ITM,
It's the douchebag Airman
Luis Borges again. Honestly really happy you guys keep the "Florida
ounces" bit alive, I almost didn't share that story because I thought
you guys wouldn't like it!
Anyways,
as you know and I've shared with you guys before, I'm in the Air Force.
And Adam mentioned last show about how he has a DOD friend that loves
Pete Hegseth and the Department of War stuff. I wanna give you guys the
active duty Air Force maintainers perspective.
We
honestly think he's kind of a tool. We see him as a guardsman that
played the "ex-military" card on Fox News. His speech that he gave to
all the generals was mandatory to watch the other day and a lot of the
guys in the shop were not happy with what he had to say. He wasn't
speaking to us. He was speaking to the guys how go out and do the "real
shit" the spec ops guys, infantry etc. Higher PT standards for us, we're
all hurt with injuries in one way, hell I need a knee surgery from
working on the B-52. Us in maintenance work 12hr days and now he expects
us to work out everyday during they duty day while trying to get jets
out on time? Leadership doesn't like it because of that reason.
Leadership is having a tough time finding that time in the day to do all
he wants but with situations around the world right now, it's
impossible to fulfill his wished and they resent him. I agree with the
secretary there are A LOT of fat people in the military. It's just hard
for us in maintenance to get that time in unless things calm down for a
bit on the operations side.
Shaving:
we have tons of airman, good airman, that will eventually get kicked
out because he doesn't want shaving waivers anymore. Now I agree that
the system has been abused but lots of African American airman will be
discriminated against because of this and I fear we will lose a lot of
airman. If the treatments they are suggesting don't work, poof gone.
This will cause, in my opinion, more and more people ineligible to serve
on top of all the other disqualifying nonsense.
The
old heads don't like him, they think that we are going back to the old
days where the Air Force was an extension of the Army and we have slowly
pushed away. Now, I do like his promotion ideas, heck I love the name
"Department of War" because that's what we do, but I think he's trying
to change too fast. Already out MAJCOM General retired early (resigned)
and speculation is because of the upcoming changes. We as an Air Force
have done a lot for the airman and now it seems like all those steps are
being squashed to be a different force. We hear him say the word
"lethal" so much it's lost its meaning and it's a meme now in the
community.
These are just
our opinions in Air Force maintenance. We feel betrayed by him but time
will tell if it's for good or not. I expect a lot of airman getting
kicked out on PT and waist measurement (now a part of the PT test. You
can pass the PT test 100% and still fail because you're a size 36 waist
instead of 35 for example) and it's only going to make everyone's job
harder on our side.
Thank you for all you do Adam and John and Happy anniversary!
