Veteran Alabama reporter and anchor Christopher Sign, who previously worked in Phoenix for more than a decade, was found dead by the local Hoover police Saturday morning, according to Hoover Police Department Capt. Keith Czeskleba.

Sign broke the news of a 2016 meeting between former President Bill Clinton, whose wife Hillary Clinton at the time was running for president and was being investigated by the FBI, and the then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport tarmac. At the time, their meeting was cast as a potential conflict of interest.

A report by the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice detailed what took place at that meeting.

Sign moved from Alabama to Arizona in 2005 and spent 13 years working in the Valley of the Sun where he won numerous awards including an Edward R. Murrow Award for spot news and an Emmy for breaking news coverage on the search for the 'Baseline Killer' and 'Serial Shooter,' according to a bio from ABC 33/40.

He moved back to Alabama in 2017 to work with ABC 33/40 to spend more time with his family, according to the station's obituary.

''We have lost a revered colleague who's indelible imprint will serve forever as a hallmark of decency, honesty and journalist integrity,'' ABC 33/40 Vice President & General Manager Eric Land said in a statement.

Phoenix colleagues remember SignIn Phoenix and across the Valley, an outpouring of condolences from former readers and former colleagues filled social media.

"All of us who had the pleasure of working with him, and calling him our friend, are shocked and devastated by the news of his passing. Our hearts go out to his friends and family in Arizona, and Alabama," ABC15 anchor Steve Irvin said on Facebook.

"He taught me so much about life in & out of the newsroom," ABC15 anchor Danielle Lerner wrote. "He was an incredibly talented and dedicated journalist... but more importantly, was a devoted husband, father and friend."

Sign is survived by his wife and three sons.

Hoover police received a call around 8 a.m. of a person down, found Sign and pronounced him dead, according to Czeskleba.

Police said his death appeared to be a suicide.

Google employees are receiving regular notifications from management of Covid-19 infections, causing some to question the company's return-to-office mandates.

The employees, who spoke with CNBC on the condition of anonymity, said since they have been asked to return to offices, infections notifications pop up in their email inboxes regularly. Employees are reacting with frustration and memes.

The company began requiring most employees to return to physical offices at least three days a week in April. Since then, staffers have pushed back on the mandate after they worked efficiently for so long at home while the company enjoyed some of its fastest revenue growth in 15 years. Google has offered full-time employees the option to request permanent remote work, but it's unclear how many workers have been approved.

Google's Covid-19 outbreak in Los Angeles is currently the largest of any employer in LA., according to the city's public health dashboard. Deadline.com first reported that the tech giant's trendy Silicon Beach campus in Venice, Calif., recorded 145 infections while 135 cases were recorded at the company's large Playa Vista campus.

A spokesperson for Google told CNBC, "There has not been a significant increase of onsite COVID-19 transmission on our campuses. The numbers that have been reported in Playa Vista and Venice reflect total cases over the last few months, not current or active cases."

Staffers have been filling Memegen, an internal company image-sharing site, with memes about the increased number of exposure notifications they're receiving. One meme, which was upvoted 2,840 times, showed a photo of an inbox with the email subject from a San Francisco-based facilities manager stating ''We're so excited to see you back in the office!'' and a subsequent email subject line stating ''Notification of Confirmed COVID-19 Case.''

Another meme with hundreds of upvotes said ''How it started'' with an image of a rainbow arch followed by ''How it's going'' and a wall of text saying ''Notification of confirmed Covid-19 case.'' Another featured an illustration of a happy Pokemon touring a Bay Area campus next to another photo of a worried Pokemon after getting a Covid-19 notification followed by an alarmed Pokemon with 29 exposure notifications. Another meme shows a picture of Star Wars character Rey, whose caption says ''I didn't know there was this much 'Notification of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases' in the whole galaxy.''

Some employees said they received a spike in notifications from the Mountain View, Calif. headquarters and in San Francisco offices after the company held a return-to-office celebration, where Grammy award-winning artist Lizzo performed for thousands of employees at the Shoreline Amphitheater, near Google's main campus.

The spokesperson for Google also noted that the company follows methodology laid out by state and local laws in determining the definition of a Covid outbreak, and when to send exposure emails.

Unvaccinated employees fight to get back in the officeLast December, Google told employees that they must comply with vaccine policies or they'd face losing pay and then losing their job. Then in February, ahead of asking employees to come back, it relaxed rules around vaccines being a requirement for employment, as well as other rules around testing, social distancing and masks.

But it continued to require Covid-19 vaccination to enter physical offices.

Now, some Google employees are asking the company to drop the vaccine mandate, arguing Covid-19 outbreaks keep happening anyway in the offices where employees are fully vaccinated. While it still provides a level of protection, the vaccines aren't as strong against the highly transmissible BA.5 variant, the fastest-spreading variant of Covid-19 to date, the group argues in a manifesto called ''No Vaccine Mandate," which was posted this month and viewed by CNBC. (The vaccines are still providing good protection against severe disease and death, including with the BA.5 variant, but are not providing substantial protection against infection or mild illness.)

The anonymous manifesto says the group, which calls itself Googlers for No Vaccine Mandate, is frustrated that non-vaccinated employees and those who decline to declare their vaccination status are still banned from offices and other gatherings including off-sites, summits and team events. It also claims that some Google employees still haven't met their teams since March 2020 and some were never notified of the vaccination policy during their hiring process.

''We've seen waves of Covid-particularly since December 2021 with Omicron and its sub variants spread through Google offices with little regard for vaccination status. We've seen many fully vaccinated and boosted colleagues call out sick for multiple days with Covid. We've seen both panics and good natured responses to the flood of exposure notifications received by officegoers."

Other companies that once mandated Covid vaccination requirements have since dropped them, including Boeing, Intel, and United Airlines, citing a federal court's decision to prohibit enforcement of the federal contractor executive order that required vaccination of large employers that are also government contractors. The group's manifesto says it is hoping Google leadership does the same thing.

The group is largely anonymous, although some members' identities are known to CNBC. It claims to include hundreds of employees with tenures of up to 10 years, in roles such as engineering, program management, UX design, education, sales, marketing and finance. It also includes Googlers who are fully vaccinated and ''believe the company's vaccine policy is an invasion of privacy and is insensitive to individual circumstances and risk factors.''

''We're writing to ask for your help for a group of Googlers who still aren't allowed back to our offices," the memo states. ''We are reaching out to you as colleagues and peers because our direct appeals to Google leadership have been ignored. When planning an in-person meeting, summit or offsite, think about how Googlers who are barred from full participation by the vaccine policy can be acknowledged and included."

Nate Silver claimed ''liberal public health elites'' pressured Pfizer to delay fast-track approval of its COVID-19 vaccine until after the 2020 presidential election '-- thus denying then-President Donald Trump a political win before voters headed to the polls.

The number-crunching data journalist reacted to an article by Politico that cited a House report that claimed the Trump administration sought to expedite approvals for both vaccines and ''unproven treatments'' for COVID-19.

'''Trump pushed for vaccine approvals too fast' is the worst possible critique of the Trump administration's COVID policy,'' Silver, founder of the Disney-owned FiveThirtyEight political news and analysis website, tweeted.

Nate Silver, the statistician and editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight, thinks Pfizer's delayed rollout of its COVID vaccine may have been politically motivated to hurt then-President Donald Trump. Silver noted that Pfizer's decision ''had the convenient side-effect of delaying any vaccine announcement until after the election'' and that the story ''deserves more scrutiny.''

The FiveThirtyEight editor-in-chief said most public health officials ''tend to be strong [Democratic] partisans'' and that their push for Pfizer to take its time in announcing a vaccine ''may have been politically motivated in whole or in part.''

''It's a story that deserves more reporting and I've done some poking around myself,'' Silver tweeted.

The Politico story that Silver linked to quotes several public health experts who criticized Pfizer for going too fast in seeking FDA authorization of its vaccine.

The pharmaceutical giant was under intense pressure by the Trump administration and its allies to announce the success of its vaccine at clinical trials before Nov. 3, 2020.

Six days after the election, Pfizer announced that its COVID vaccine was 90% effective.

According to House Democrats probing the Trump administration's response to the pandemic, White House officials demanded that the FDA authorize the use of an anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine, to treat COVID '-- even though there was no research to support its use.

Trump administration officials were also accused of pressuring the FDA to speed up its vaccine approval process in order to benefit the president politically. Trump officials have denied the claims.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is pushing for the chemical castration of transgender children after previously fighting against the use of the same drugs for sex offenders.

The ACLU is now advocating for kids to be able to take the chemically castrating drugs as puberty blockers.

The stance is a staggering double standard as the ACLU was previously a vocal opponent of the same drugs being used on certain convicted sex offenders.

Just one year ago, the leftist organization fought hard against a law in Alabama that mandated chemical castration on certain convicted sex offenders.

Former Executive Director of the ACLU of Alabama Randall Marshall called the practice of chemical castration ''medical experimentation.''

Marshall also claimed that the practice ''has no basis in the medical community.''

Dillon Nettles, a policy analyst with the ACLU of Alabama, said the law ''presents serious issues, involving involuntary medical treatment, informed consent, privacy, and cruel and unusual punishment.''

The drug that was to be used for chemical castration is called medroxyprogesterone acetate.

Medroxyprogesterone is also used as a puberty blocker.

One study notes that the drug ''is a widely used progestin in feminizing hormone therapy.''

But while the ACLU has vocally opposed the use of medroxyprogesterone acetate on convicted sex offenders, the organization has called ''gender-affirming care'' for children, which includes the use of puberty blockers, ''medically necessary'' and even ''life-saving.''

Chase Strangio, the deputy director of the ACLU LGBTQ and HIV Project, spoke out in favor of what is euphemistically called ''gender-affirming care'' on behalf of the organization.

The ACLU joined two other organizations in filing a lawsuit that challenges Texas Governor Greg Abbott's directive stating that sex change attempts on youth are a form of child abuse.

One common medical intervention that is performed on children struggling with gender dysphoria is the administration of drugs that are used off-label as puberty blockers.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate isn't the only drug that has been used both for chemical castration and puberty-blocking, however.

Leuprolide acetate, referred to as Lupron, is commonly used off-label as a puberty blocker.

It has also been used to chemically castrate sex offenders.

Last year, the ACLU received a six-figure donation from a leftist, transgender billionaire named Jennifer Pritzker.

Several other members of the Pritzker family have advanced the transgender movement and the Pritzker Foundation has given $15 million to Chicago's Lurie Children's Hospital, which assists in sex change attempts.

The $101,000 donation to the ACLU from Pritzker specifically went towards fighting what was referred to as ''anti-transgender'' laws in Tennessee.

The ACLU has also received $15 million from Jon Stryker, the heir to a medical technology empire.

Stryker gave the money to fund the ACLU's attempt to counter state bills that oppose transgender ideology.

Moderna is taking Pfizer and BioNTech to court, accusing the rival drugmakers of patent infringement over their COVID-19 vaccine.

The company said Friday it has filed patent infringement lawsuits against Pfizer and BioNTech in Massachusetts and in Germany, alleging the companies copied its mRNA technology to develop their own coronavirus vaccine and thereby infringed on patents filed by Moderna between 2010 and 2016.

"We are filing these lawsuits to protect the innovative mRNA technology platform that we pioneered, invested billions of dollars in creating, and patented during the decade preceding the COVID-19 pandemic," Moderna CEO St(C)phane Bancel said. "This foundational platform, which we began building in 2010, along with our patented work on coronaviruses in 2015 and 2016, enabled us to produce a safe and highly effective COVID-19 vaccine in record time after the pandemic struck."

In 2020, Moderna pledged not to enforce patents related to COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic. By March 2022, though, the company said it "expects those using Moderna-patented technologies will respect the company's intellectual property."

On Friday, Moderna said it has offered to consider a "commercially reasonable license" but that Pfizer and BioNTech have not requested one. The company also said it will "never enforce its patents" for COVID-19 vaccine technology in low-and-middle-income countries.

Moderna is not asking for Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to be removed from the marketplace or seeking damages from prior to March 2022. But Moderna Chief Legal Officer Shannon Thyme Klinger said it expects Pfizer and BioNTech "to compensate Moderna" for the "ongoing use of Moderna's patented technologies."

As Europe's energy costs skyrocket, Russia is burning off large amounts of natural gas, according to analysis shared with BBC News.

They say the plant, near the border with Finland, is burning an estimated $10m (£8.4m) worth of gas every day.

Experts say the gas would previously have been exported to Germany.

Germany's ambassador to the UK told BBC News that Russia was burning the gas because "they couldn't sell it elsewhere".

Scientists are concerned about the large volumes of carbon dioxide and soot it is creating, which could exacerbate the melting of Arctic ice.

The analysis by Rystad Energy indicates that around 4.34 million cubic metres of gas are being burned by the flare every day.

It is coming from a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at Portovaya, north-west of St Petersburg.

The first signs that something was awry came from Finnish citizens over the nearby border who spotted a large flame on the horizon earlier this summer.

Portovaya is located close to a compressor station at the start of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline which carries gas under the sea to Germany.

Supplies through the pipeline have been curtailed since mid-July, with the Russians blaming technical issues for the restriction. Germany says it was purely a political move following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

But since June, researchers have noted a significant increase in heat emanating from the facility - thought to be from gas flaring, the burning of natural gas.

While burning off gas is common at processing plants - normally done for technical or safety reasons - the scale of this burn has confounded experts.

"I've never seen an LNG plant flare so much," said Dr Jessica McCarty, an expert on satellite data from Miami University in Ohio.

"Starting around June, we saw this huge peak, and it just didn't go away. It's stayed very anomalously high."

Miguel Berger, the German ambassador to the UK, told BBC News that European efforts to reduce reliance on Russian gas were "having a strong effect on the Russian economy".

"They don't have other places where they can sell their gas, so they have to burn it," he suggested.

Mark Davis is the CEO of Capterio, a company that is involved in finding solutions to gas flaring.

He says the flaring is not accidental and is more likely a deliberate decision made for operational reasons.

"Operators often are very hesitant to actually shut down facilities for fear that they may be technically difficult or costly to start up again, and it's probably the case here," he told BBC News.

Others believe that there could be technical challenges in dealing with the large volumes of gas that were being supplied to the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

Russian energy company Gazprom may have intended to use that gas to make LNG at the new plant, but may have had problems handling it and the safest option is to flare it off.

It could also be the result of Europe's trade embargo with Russia in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

"This kind of long-term flaring may mean that they are missing some equipment," said Esa Vakkilainen, an energy engineering professor from Finland's LUT University.

"So, because of the trade embargo with Russia, they are not able to make the high-quality valves needed in oil and gas processing. So maybe there are some valves broken and they can't get them replaced."

Gazprom - Russia's state-controlled energy giant which owns the plant - has not responded to requests for comment on the flaring.

The financial and environmental costs mount each day the flare continues to burn, say scientists.

"While the exact reasons for the flaring are unknown, the volumes, emissions and location of the flare are a visible reminder of Russia's dominance in Europe's energy markets," said Sindre Knutsson from Rystad Energy.

"There could not be a clearer signal - Russia can bring energy prices down tomorrow. This is gas that would otherwise have been exported via Nord Stream 1 or alternatives."

Energy prices around the world rose sharply as Covid lockdowns were lifted and economies returned to normal. Many places of work, industry and leisure were all suddenly in need of more energy at the same time, putting unprecedented pressures on suppliers.

Prices increased again in February this year, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. European governments looked for ways to import less energy from Russia, which had previously supplied 40% of the gas used in the EU.

Prices for alternative sources of gas went up as a result, and some EU nations - like Germany and Spain - are now bringing in energy-saving measures.

The environmental impacts of the burning are worrying scientists.

According to researchers, flaring is far better than simply venting the methane which is the key ingredient in the gas, and is a very powerful climate warming agent.

Russia has a track record of burning off gas - according to the World Bank, it is the number one country when it comes to the volume of flaring.

But as well as releasing about 9,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent every day from this flare, the burning causes other significant issues.

Black carbon is the name given to the sooty particles that are produced through the incomplete burning of fuels like natural gas.

"Of particular concern with flaring at Arctic latitudes is the transport of emitted black carbon northward where it deposits on snow and ice and significantly accelerates melting," said Prof Matthew Johnson, from Carleton University in Canada.

"Some highly cited estimates already put flaring as the dominant source of black carbon deposition in the Arctic and any increases in flaring in this region are especially unwelcome."

Matthew Paul Le Tissier (; born 14 October 1968) is a former professional footballer. Born in Guernsey, he won eight caps for the England national team.

Le Tissier spent his entire professional club career with Southampton before turning to non-League football in 2002; his loyalty garnered special affection from Southampton's fans who nicknamed him "Le God".[3]

A creative attacking midfielder with exceptional technical skills,[4] Le Tissier is the second-highest ever scorer for Southampton behind Mick Channon and was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 1990. He was the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the Premier League. He is notable for his record at scoring penalty kicks '' converting from the spot 47 times from 48 attempts '' and is considered one of the greatest ever from the 12-yard spot.[5]

Following his retirement as a player, Le Tissier became a football pundit, and worked as a panellist on the Sky Sports show Soccer Saturday until August 2020. In 2011, he became honorary president of Guernsey F.C. In his retirement, he has made several posts on social media, concerning Covid-19 and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which were met with criticism.[6]

Club career [ edit ] Early career [ edit ] Le Tissier was born in Guernsey, a British crown dependency, and played youth football on the island with Vale Recreation between the ages of seven and sixteen. At fifteen, he had a trial at English club Oxford United, but nothing came of it.[7]

Southampton [ edit ] Signing for Southampton on YTS forms in 1985 and then signing professional forms in October 1986, Le Tissier made his club debut in a 4''3 defeat at Norwich City in the Football League First Division, and by the end of that season had scored six goals in 24 league games, including a hat-trick against Leicester City in the league. He scored his first two competitive goals in a League Cup third round replay at home to Manchester United on 4 November 1986, a game which Southampton won 4''1 and was Ron Atkinson's last in charge of the visitors, his sacking coming within 48 hours of the result. Le Tissier made 19 first team league appearances in 1987''88, failing to score, but in 1988''89, scored nine times in 28 league games.

He was voted PFA Young Player of the Year for the 1989''90 season, in which he was one of the league's top goalscorers with 20 goals as Southampton finished seventh in the First Division, the club's highest finish for five years.[8]

Le Tissier's highest scoring league season was 1993''94, when he scored 25 league goals.[9] The following season he won the Match of the Day Goal of the Season award for his drifting 40-yard chip against Blackburn Rovers, scoring against his long-term friend, and former Southampton keeper, Tim Flowers.

Le Tissier's goal tally for the season regularly went well into double figures for the league alone throughout the 1990s, playing a major role in Southampton preserving their top flight status into the new millennium as they came close to relegation on five occasions in the first seven seasons of the Premier League '' including one season when they only survived on goal difference. He was the subject of interest from many big clubs in England and overseas during this time, particularly from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but the transfer never happened and Le Tissier would ultimately remain a Southampton player until his retirement. In August 1995, Chelsea reportedly made a £10million bid for Le Tissier which would have made him the most expensive player in English football at the time. Shortly afterwards, defending league champions Blackburn Rovers were reportedly planning to sign him for a similar-sized fee.[10]

On 2 April 2000, Le Tissier scored a last minute penalty for Southampton in a 2''1 defeat to Sunderland. This brought his tally of Premiership goals to 100, making him only the sixth player and first midfielder to reach this milestone.[11]

He scored the last goal in the final competitive match played at The Dell on 19 May 2001, against Arsenal.[12] This turned out to be his last goal for Southampton. He played several games for the club during 2001''02, the first season at the new St Mary's Stadium, in an eventual 11th-place finish. His final competitive appearance for the Saints came against West Ham on 30 January 2002.[13] He announced on 29 March 2002 that he would retire from playing at the season's end after limping off with a recurrence of a calf strain during a reserve team game against Charlton Athletic.[14]

His final match, a testimonial against an England XI in May 2002, ended in a 9''9 draw, with Le Tissier playing 45 minutes for each side, while his 10-year-old son Mitchell came on as a substitute in the second half, scoring four times.[15]

Throughout his career, Le Tissier had a fearsome reputation for scoring from the spot, converting 47 of the 48 penalties that he took for Southampton.[16] His sole failure to convert came on 24 March 1993 in a match against Nottingham Forest, his spot kick being saved by Forest keeper Mark Crossley, the feat being so unique that Crossley describes it as the save of which he is most proud.[17]

Eastleigh [ edit ] After leaving Southampton, he had a two-season-long spell with non-league side Eastleigh, where he played alongside his former Southampton teammate David Hughes.[18][19] He made his debut in a 3''0 victory over Newport (IOW) in the Hampshire Senior Cup in October 2002.[20] He played his last match for the club early in August 2003, starring in the Hampshire Chronicle Cup Final second leg victory against Winchester City.[21]

Guernsey [ edit ] On 7 April 2013, ten years after retiring from football, Le Tissier announced he had come out of retirement and signed with his hometown club Guernsey. A number of fixture postponements meant that they had to play 17 league fixtures in a month, and Le Tissier announced that he would be able to play in four or five games, also saying he was unable to play Saturday games due to his job as a television pundit on Soccer Saturday.[22] He made his debut for the club on 24 April, as a substitute for Ollie McKenzie, in a 4''2 defeat in their Combined Counties League Premier Division clash with Colliers Wood United.[23] The fixture was his only appearance for the club.

International career [ edit ] Le Tissier represented Guernsey's under-15 side, playing in the 1983 Muratti Vase final against Jersey U15.[24]

He chose to play for England, joining a relatively small group of players who were not born in the country, and earned eight caps over three years. Guernsey, although largely self-governing, does not have an official FIFA national team, which made Le Tissier eligible to play for England. He was picked by the manager Terry Venables to start the ill-fated friendly match against the Republic of Ireland at Lansdowne Road, on 15 February 1995. With Ireland leading from a 22nd-minute goal by David Kelly, a group of England fans began to riot, causing the Dutch referee Dick Jol to abandon the match.[25]

In the run-up to the 1998 FIFA World Cup, Le Tissier scored a hat-trick in a 4''1 victory for England B against Russia B at Loftus Road;[26] despite this, he was overlooked by manager Glenn Hoddle for the final squad. He never played for England again after the tournament.[1]

Style of play [ edit ] Le Tissier was a creative and technically gifted attacking midfielder, with an eye for goal, known for his ball striking, and ability to get into good attacking positions, in addition to his vision, and ability to create chances for teammates; these abilities also enabled him to play as a supporting striker on occasion, or even on the right wing, although this was not his favoured position. Despite his poor work-rate, and lack of notable pace or stamina, he was known for his excellent control, technique, balance, and dribbling skills, as well as his intelligence on the ball, and his use of tricks and feints, which allowed him to beat opponents.[4][14][27][28][29][30][31][32][33] He was also known for his extreme accuracy on penalties.[5]

Post-retirement [ edit ] On the former site of The Dell, which was Southampton FC's old stadium, the names of apartment blocks honour Southampton Football Club players; one is named Le Tissier Court.[34] At Southampton FC's current ground, St Mary's Stadium, one of the hospitality suites is named after him.[35]

On 7 February 2007, a plane in the Flybe fleet was named after him on his home island of Guernsey.[36][37] It was withdrawn from use in July 2011.[38]

After Southampton's relegation to level three in 2008''09, Le Tissier initially offered to help with a bid to take over the club, but later withdrew,[39] amidst some controversy.[40]

In September 2009, Le Tissier revealed in his autobiography that he had placed a spread bet on a match he was involved in during his playing career. During an April 1995 match at Wimbledon, Le Tissier stood to win "well into four figures" after betting on the time of the first throw-in. After kicking off, he tried to overhit a pass to unsuspecting teammate Neil Shipperley, but due to nerves, underhit it and Shipperley was able to keep the ball in play. Le Tissier revealed he had "never run so much" in his life as he tried to put the ball out of play to avoid losing money, with the ball eventually going out of play after 70 seconds, meaning Le Tissier and his associates neither won nor lost money.[41] The event was investigated by Hampshire Police but the Crown Prosecution Service refused to take the case further, citing that it did "not represent appropriate use of police resources" and "would not be in the public interest".[42]

Le Tissier made a cameo appearance for Southampton in Claus Lundekvam's testimonial against Celtic, on 18 July 2008.[43] Lundekvam had previously played with him at Southampton from 1996 to 2002.

In 2011, he accepted the position of Honorary President of Guernsey F.C.[44]

In August 2016, Le Tissier and ex-Southampton teammate Francis Benali announced that they had gone into business as football agents. Speaking about their joint business venture, Le Tissier commented that their aim was to provide "guidance and support on every aspect of a footballer's career '' on and off the field". Benali added: "We've got a real passion for football and are keen to impart our experience and knowledge to help players make the right decisions for their careers.[45] He was a long-term panellist on Sky Sports show Soccer Saturday until August 2020 when he was dropped.[46] Whilst working for Sky Sports, Le Tissier claimed that he was required to wear a Black Lives Matter badge and was only told this "about a minute" before the show started. After wearing the badge for one show he subsequently refused to and he believed that this contributed to his dismissal.[47]

In 2020, Le Tissier became an outspoken critic of the reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. He issued several tweets criticising what he deemed to be an "overreaction" by the government and media, among others, opposing lockdowns and mask orders.[48] An image he posted on Twitter which implied a comparison between the Holocaust and having to wear masks during the pandemic was deleted.[49] In 2021, Le Tissier drew widespread criticism again for promoting unverified theories, when he suggested that Christian Eriksen's on-pitch cardiac arrest was an adverse reaction to being vaccinated, despite Eriksen not being vaccinated.[50][51] In November 2021 he faced further criticism, this time by epidemiologists, as one of several former professional footballers "demanding investigations into links" between onfield collapses and COVID vaccinations, after three footballers collapsed in one week.[52]

Le Tissier controversially retweeted a post on Twitter concerning the Bucha massacre, committed during Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, suggesting the media was lying in its coverage of the event.[53] Following backlash, Le Tissier stepped down from his role as a Club Ambassador at Southampton on 6 April.[54][51]

On 4 May 2022, Jersey Bulls cancelled an appearance of Le Tissier after he was previously announced as the special guest at their awards dinner following fan backlash.[55]

Personal life [ edit ] Le Tissier married childhood sweetheart Cathy and had two children, Mitchell and Keeleigh. The couple divorced in 1997 and Cathy and the children moved back to Guernsey, after which he had a relationship with Home and Away and Emmerdale actress Emily Symons.,[56] before marrying Angela Nabulsi in April 2008 in a small ceremony. They have one daughter, Ava, together. All three of Le Tissier's brothers '' Mark, Kevin and Carl '' also played football, but never professionally.[57] Mark is currently secretary of Guernsey F.C.[58]

A troubling survey commissioned by trade publication the Morning Advisor revealed the entire British pub industry could be on the brink of a tsunami of closures this winter if the government fails to intervene in power markets to ease cost pressures.

According to the survey, 70% of respondents say if electricity prices continue to soar, they will be unable to operate and forced to close up shop '-- this would dramatically alter the landscape of pubs by next spring.

More than 65% of the pubs surveyed said power costs rose more than 100%, 30% said utility costs jumped 200%, and 8% experienced 500% increases. Most pubs warned they couldn't afford the exponential rise in energy costs.

One pub told The Guardian the utility company had quoted them a 600% increase in power costs versus their current contract.

Heath Ball, managing director of the Frisco Group, which operates three pubs across the southeast of England, offered an apocalyptic warning that pubs were facing a ''doomsday scenario'' in just a few months when the cold season begins.

''This energy bill crisis comes on the back of the most testing of times as businesses try to recover from the Covid crisis and I think it poses an even greater threat to the survival of pubs,'' Ball told the Morning Advertiser.

He even said some pubs were being rejected new power contacts because utilities deemed them ''high risk.'' Ball said lawmakers need to resolve the energy crisis soon or ''find a solution to this now or face mass pub and restaurant closures.''

There are more than 46,000 pubs across the UK in 2021, according to British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA), with about half of them being independents.

''Rising energy bills are putting pubs in real jeopardy. Sudden, extreme price hikes are already forcing publicans to make tough choices, from reducing opening hours to cutting options on their menus.

''We are experiencing a perfect storm that is not only shrinking but eradicating profitability margins. We urgently need an energy price cap for small businesses before extortionate bills cripple pubs and we lose them forever in communities across the country.''

Then there's the supply of British pubs' life and soul: beer. A shortage in fertilizer production due to soaring natural gas costs has slashed the availability of carbon dioxide, an essential ingredient in producing carbonated drinks, including beer. This will undoubtedly make the situation worse for pubs:

McClarkin told Fortune:

''A guaranteed supply of CO2 is essential for operations across pub and brewing businesses and this announcement comes at a time when they are already facing extreme rising costs, threatening to close businesses and damage people's livelihoods.''

Without government support, a large swath of the UK pub industry could be wiped out this winter. When will Europeans wake up that Western sanctions are completely backfiring and crushing their way of life at the expense of NATO's proxy war against Russia in Ukraine?

Breaking News The authorities will never admit it, especially when you consider the fact they have donated billions of taxpayers' money to Big Pharma, but it looks like we have won.

Because official Government data coming out of both the USA and United Kingdom reveals there are now at least 254 million ''vaccine refusniks'' in both countries, with approximately 3 in every 5 people either refusing a first, second, or third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

As of August 25th, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides the following data on Covid-19 vaccinations in the United States ''

According to the CDC, 262 million people have had a single dose, 223.6 million people have had a second dose, and 108 million people have had a third dose as of August 25th, 2022.

This means on top of the 69.7 million people who are unvaccinated, a further 38.7 million people who had the first dose refused the second dose, and a further 115.4 million people who had the second dose refused the third dose.

It also appears many of the over 50's have now decided enough is enough when it comes to getting a fourth dose of the Covid-19 injection. According to the CDC, of the 118.4 million people over the age of 50 in the USA ( source ), just 21.4 million have come forward to get a ''second booster'' dose. This means 96.9 million have so far refused.

Here's how those figures equate in terms of percentages ''

According to the CDC, 21% of the population of the USA have refused the first dose, 33% have refused the second dose, and 68% have refused the third dose. Whilst of those eligible for a fourth dose, 82% have so far refused to come forward and get it.

Based on the numbers for the third dose, this means at least 7 in every 10 Americans are now refusing to partake in the largest experiment ever conducted on humanity.

Meanwhile, in the UK, we're seeing much of the same.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) replaced Public Health England in the second half of 2021, and is sponsored by the Department for Health and Social Care and headed by Dr Jenny Harries.

The agency has been quietly publishing a weekly report titled ' Weekly national Influenza and COVID-19 surveillance report' that contains mountains of monotonous data. However, hidden deep within that report are the figures for Covid-19 vaccination uptake in England by dose.

The following table is taken from page 65 of the week 27 report, and shows vaccine uptake in England by age ''

According to the UKHA, 44.48 million people have had a single dose, 41.8 million people have had two doses, and 32.9 million people have had three doses as of July 3rd 2022.

According to the UKHSA's own figures, 63.4 million people were eligible for vaccination at this point. Therefore, 18.9 million people have refused the Covid-19 vaccine in England and remain completely unvaccinated.

But on top of this, a further 2.6 million have refused a second dose, meaning 21.5 million people are not double vaccinated, and 8.9 million people have refused the third dose, meaning 30.4 million people are not triple vaccinated.

Here's how those figures equate in terms of percentages ''

Based on the numbers for the third dose, this means 1 in every 2 Brits is now refusing to partake in the largest experiment ever conducted on humanity.

When we combine the figures with the USA, this equated to 3 in every 5 people now refusing to get any more Covid-19 injections.

This suggests more than half of the population has finally woken up to the propaganda and lies they have been fed since early 2020 in regards to Covid-19.

Fumes pumped from vehicle exhausts and caused by heavy braking significantly increase the risk of heart attacks, a major study suggests.

Researchers examined links between air pollution from traffic, such as nitric oxide and particulates, and the number of heart attacks.

Nitric oxide (NO) originates from combustion at high temperatures, in particular from diesel engines.

It was also found heart attacks fell in hot weather.

Every 10C rise in temperature was associated with a 6 per cent lower incidence.

The study included 17,873 patients who suffered a heart attack between 2008 and 2014.

Study author Dr Insa de Buhr-Stockburger, from the Berlin Brandenburg Myocardial Infarction Registry (B2HIR), said: 'The correlation between air pollution and heart attacks in our study was absent in smokers.

'This may indicate that bad air can actually cause heart attacks since smokers, who are continuously self-intoxicating with air pollutants, seem less affected by additional external pollutants.'

She added: 'The study indicates that dirty air is a risk factor for acute myocardial infarction [heart attacks] and more efforts are needed to lower pollution from traffic and combustion.

'Causation cannot be established by an observational study.

'It is plausible that air pollution is a contributing cause of myocardial infarction, given that nitric oxide and PM10 promote inflammation, atherosclerosis is partly caused by inflammatory processes, and no associations were found in smokers.'

Heart and circulatory disease causes one in four deaths in the UK, with one in eight men and one in 14 women dying from this cause.

Every year, 80,000 people are admitted to hospital in England after a heart attack.

American boxing legend Mike Tyson was spotted in a wheelchair last week at Miami International Airport, sparking health concerns. This comes a month after he stated that his expiration date was ''getting close.''

The 56-year-old former heavyweight champion was rolled through the airport terminal on Tuesday because of a ''sciatica flare-up.''

''A similar flare-up two years ago left the former heavyweight champion in tears and bedridden for two weeks,'' according to Fox Sports.

''He was also pictured using a cane in New York City last month. The boxing legend was filmed making his way from a car to his hotel room, using what appeared to be the same walking stick he held in Miami,'' the outlet reported.

After asking the passenger to 'chill,' Tyson, 55, lost his cool and began punching the man in the face.

According to TMZ, Mike Tyson walked off the plane after he punched the man.

''I didn't do it willingly," Tyson told USA TODAY Sports during an interview at his cannabis company. ''I'm a little apprehensive of that. I was pretty much beaten into submission to do this because I travel internationally. And if I don't travel, we don't eat.

''So I decided to take the risk and take the shot. And people, they have their own choice. I never got sick.''

Some pharmacies are having difficulty filling prescriptions of the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder medication Adderall, following a labor shortage at the medication's biggest U.S. supplier.

Yet the Food and Drug Administration said that, based on its monitoring of the supply of ADHD medications from all manufacturers, no shortage has been detected overall.

Only one company is reporting "intermittent delays," FDA spokesperson Cherie Duvall-Jones said in an email. "Teva Pharmaceuticals, the maker for Adderall tablets, is reporting expected delays for the next 2-3 months."

Teva Pharmaceuticals attributed the delay to a labor shortage on its packaging line that it said has been resolved. The company added that it has an "active supply" of branded Adderall and its generic version, and that while some pharmacies may experience a back order, it should be temporary.

Walgreens said its "current supply is meeting our patient needs at this time."

However, a survey by the National Community Pharmacists Association, conducted from July 25 through Aug. 5, found that of about 360 independent pharmacies that responded, approximately 64% were having difficulty obtaining Adderall.

Some small pharmacies told NBC News that they continue to encounter issues.

At Roger's Family Pharmacy in Yankton, South Dakota, pharmacist owner Byron Olson said some formulations of the medication have been harder to get than others.

"It's often that they're not out entirely," he said of the drug manufacturers, explaining that patients who take 20 mg twice a day, for example, might have to work with their doctors to get alternative pill sizes.

In rare cases, patients might have to temporarily switch to another medication altogether, he added.

"It can be frustrating for patients because they don't know about the shortages," Olson said.

Meanwhile, at Killingworth Family Pharmacy in Killingworth, Connecticut, pharmacist owner Keith Lyke said he has been receiving patients from other pharmacies over the past month who have been unable to fill their Adderall prescriptions elsewhere. While he has found the drug to be out of stock from some manufacturers, generics from other suppliers have been easy enough to obtain.

"We tell them it's a different company, so it may look different," he said.

An explosion in demandADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by inattentiveness, impulsivity and/or hyperactivity that is severe enough to interfere with school, work and other aspects of life. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates, based on data from 2016 to 2019, that approximately 10% of children are diagnosed with it, with boys more likely to receive a diagnosis.

Adderall and other stimulant drugs are a common and effective way of managing ADHD symptoms.

However, Adderall has the potential to be abused if taken improperly or without a prescription. Telehealth startups such as Cerebral and Done Health, which gained footing during the pandemic and prescribe stimulants, raised questions among pharmacies about whether Adderall was being overprescribed. Former and current employees of those companies told The Wall Street Journal that they felt pressured to prescribe medication without adequate time to make a diagnosis.

In May, Walmart and CVS announced they would stop filling prescriptions for controlled substances from those telehealth firms.

Demand for Adderall is higher than ever: Prescriptions dispensed in the U.S. spiked to 41.4 million last year, up 10.4% from 2020, according to The Wall Street Journal.

But that doesn't mean that all ADHD diagnoses made during the pandemic were illegitimate, said Dr. David W. Goodman, an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

"There are a lot of people presumably with ADHD who've never been diagnosed and never been treated," Goodman, a former board member for the advocacy organization Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, said.

During pandemic lockdowns, some people's symptoms may have become more salient, Goodman said, "because the routine of the day of going to work and working with co-workers and having an external structure was eliminated."

"So now people have to stay at home and institute structure themselves, which is very difficult for them, and the family members at home would then come to realize, you know, this person is consistently inconsistent," he said.

There have been shortages of ADHD stimulants before: The FDA reported a shortage from September 2019 through May 2022.

Goodman advised patients who take Adderall to anticipate potential difficulty with their prescription refills and to work with their doctors and pharmacies to get alternatives if they run into issues.

"It's unpredictable. We can be sailing along fine and then we run into a shortage."

A new German study shows that the number of people suffering from serious complications linked to the Covid vaccine is 40 times higher than previously reported. However, Bill Gates boasted on France 2 TV that those who die of Covid are more than likely unvaccinated.

The French commentator asked Billy Boy ''what do you say to people who doubt the Covid vaccine?'' And in response, Billy said ''If you look at those who die, it's the people who are not vaccinated. It's a miracle that has prevented millions of deaths.'' While yes, I agree it has prevented deaths and hospitalizations, it has also caused deaths and hospitalizations and the denial of this is where the issue lies.

Professor Dr. Harald Matthes is leading the research at Charit(C) in Berlin focusing on the side effects of receiving the vaccine. The study has been ongoing for a year now and 40,000 vaccinated individuals are being interviewed at regular intervals in Germany.

Eight out of 1,000 vaccinated individuals struggle with side effects said Professor Dr. Harald Matthes. He adds, ''The number is not surprising. It corresponds to what is known in other countries such as Sweden, Israel, and Canada. Incidentally, even the manufacturers of the vaccines had already determined similar numbers in their studies.''

Symptoms lasting for weeks or months on end requiring medical attention is what Dr. Harald Matthes is considering ''serious.'' These include:

Muscle and joint pain

Heart muscle inflammation

Excessive relations of the immune system

Neurological disorders

Dr. Harald Matthes reports ''Most side effects, including severe ones, subside after three to six months; 80% heal. But some last much longer.''

''Given around half a million cases with serious side effects after Covid vaccinations in Germany, we doctors have to take action. We have to come to therapy offers, discuss them openly at congresses and in public without being considered anti-vaccination.''

Said Dr. Harald Matthes who is also on the board of several medical specialist societies and has been examining the effect of medical products for years.

Those who are negatively affected by the vaccine are not taken seriously. There is now mounting evidence that backs many claims. Those affected describe their often months-long search for practical medical help and recognition. In addition, they show that suspected cases are not officially reported. And so, the numbers of severe vaccination reactions at the Paul Ehrlich Institute, at 0.2 reports per 1,000 vaccine doses, are also significantly lower than those in the Charit(C) study.

''We already have several special outpatient clinics for treating the long-term consequences of Covid disease. Many clinical pictures known from 'Long Covid' correspond to those that occur as side effects of vaccination.''

Says Dr. Harald Matthes

''They have experience with blood purification.''

He adds as he claims ICUs and dialysis centers could also be involved in the treatment

Vaccination complication treatments are being developed for those suffering.

''The presence of too many autoantibodies in the blood plasma of those affected is often the cause of the problem. Therefore, it must first be determined which and how many of these autoantibodies are present.''

Says Dr. Matthes

When doctors and researchers have given the correct diagnosis, their adjusted aim is to remove the excess antibodies from the blood using immune suppressant drugs or a special blood purification treatment.

The biggest concern is that treatments for Covid are covered by insurance. Treatments for those with vaccination complications are covered, but very rarely.

''If the insurance company refuses to cover the costs of a measure, file an objection, if necessary, a second time.''

Dr. Matthes says as he urges the need for improvement from doctors.

Russia is flaring natural gas at the Portovaya plant near the Finnish border while drastically cutting gas flows via the Nord Stream pipeline to Germany, a Rystad Energy analysis shared with BBC News showed on Friday.

The plant northwest of St. Petersburg is flaring an estimated around $10 million worth of natural gas per day'--gas that would have gone to Germany otherwise.

The Portovaya plant is near the compressor station of the same name where the Nord Stream route to Germany begins. Since June, Russia has significantly cut flows via Nord Stream, first to 40% of the pipeline's capacity and then to just 20% of Nord Stream capacity after a ten-day regular maintenance period ended on July 22.

At the same time, analysts, residents, and satellite imagery have detected and seen more heat from the Portovaya plant. Researchers tell the BBC they think the jump in heat coming out of the plant was the result of gas flaring.

"They don't have other places where they can sell their gas, so they have to burn it," Miguel Berger, the German ambassador to the UK, told BBC News, commenting on the possible reason for the significant increase in flaring.

According to Dr. Jessica McCarty, an expert on satellite data from Miami University in Ohio, "Starting around June, we saw this huge peak, and it just didn't go away. It's stayed very anomalously high," she told BBC News.

Meanwhile, gas prices in Europe hit fresh records this week after Russia's Gazprom said last week that it would halt all deliveries via Nord Stream to Germany for three days. The reason for the 3-day suspension of gas flows via the pipeline would be due to maintenance work at the Trent 60 gas compressor station, which would be carried out with Siemens, according to Gazprom.

This announcement raised renewed concerns in Europe that supply via the pipeline could be further cut or halted altogether after the three-day unplanned maintenance at the end of August.

The District of Columbia does not appear to have a contingency plan for unvaccinated students, who are banned from attending schools in person this fall after the first 20 days, according to comments made by Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser Thursday.

During a press conference, Bowser, a Democrat, admitted there are no alternative options, including virtual learning, for students who cannot attend school due to the District's vaccine mandate, meaning unvaccinated children will effectively be left without an education.

Over 40% of blacks ages 12-17 are not vaccinated, according to city data.

The Daily Signal asked Bowser what the plan was for unvaccinated students. Washington, D.C., public schools start Monday.

Bowser responded, ''They can go to school on Monday. But they need to get their vaccinations '... and their families will be alerted as to the dates.''

Students get 20 days to provide their vaccination certificate. The Office of the State Superintendent of Education for D.C. announced that ''all students must have up-to-date immunization certification on file with the school within the first 20 school days or they will not be allowed to attend school or school activities until the immunization certification is secured by the school.''

The office continued, ''If the student does not come into compliance within a 20-school day period, the school must remove the student from school until the immunization certification is secured by the school.''

When pressed on whether or not unvaccinated children would have to use virtual learning for their education if they were not compliant with the vaccine mandate, Bowser said, ''We're not offering remote learning for children, and families will need to comply with what is necessary to come to school.''

Updated data from the government's vaccine numbers website shows 47% of the black children in the district ages 12-15 had not completed their primary vaccination series necessary to go back to school in person.

Among black teens aged 16-17, 42% are unvaccinated.

An Aug. 25 press release from the District of Columbia Public Schools' website reads, ''The Coronavirus Immunization of School Students and Early Childhood Workers Amendment Act of 2021, which the Council passed in 2021, requires students ages 12 and older to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend school.'' The mandate also applies to students attending D.C. private schools.

In addition to the vaccination requirement, the release states that ''all students and staff will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result before the start of the 2022-2023 school year.''

The Daily Signal reached out to Bowser's office and D.C. Public Schools for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

Rising energy prices have led to Finnish paper firm Mets¤ Tissue cutting back on production levels in recent weeks, the company said in a statement released on Friday.

This curtailment could affect the availability of tissue paper products, such as toilet paper, the press release noted, with further halts on the production line likely.

Mets¤ Tissue has previously announced temporary production stoppages at its plants in Germany and Slovakia earlier this year, and the situation has deteriorated further since then.

The company sells its products under various brands '-- including Lambi and Serla '-- and has a total of nine paper mills in Europe.

However, the rising costs of production are hampering operations in all of Mets¤ Tissue's European markets, the company's Nordic Market Director Jani Sillanp¤¤ said, but particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.

"Electricity prices are historically high. The situation has been a little better here in the Nordic countries, but the price of electricity has started to rise here too," Sillanp¤¤ said.

He added that the production stoppages are especially having an impact on the production of toilet paper and kitchen paper.

The production slowdowns do not seem to extend to the M¤ntt¤ paper mill, located in south central Finland, with operations continuing as normal. However, Sillanp¤¤ noted, a lot of toilet and kitchen paper is exported into Finland from Central Europe.

"There is a risk that there will be problems with paper volumes if this situation continues," he added.

The rising cost of production may also lead to toilet and kitchen paper becoming more expensive, Sillanp¤¤ said.

Ultimately, retailers decide whether the price increase should be passed on to consumers.

But despite her credentials, the preview clip for Gutsy - previewed by PEOPLE magazine - saw Hillary Clinton bested by Kardashian in the quiz.

In the episode, Kardashian admits that after her first year of legal study through an apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm, passing what's known as the 'baby bar' exam was tough. It took her three tries, she says.

The former Secretary of State is seen in the trailer for Gutsy, which airs on Apple TV+ on September 9, traveling the country with her daughter, Chelsea, and speaking to inspiring women.

Among those they meet are Goldie Hawn, Kim Kardashian, Jane Goodall and Megan Thee Stallion.

One clip shows Clinton, 74, in conversation with Reverend Whittney Ijanaten, a UCLA chaplain and wedding officiant, who specializes in LGBTQ marriages.

Ijanaten remarks: 'You have a marriage that has been on public display since the beginning. You said the gutsiest thing you ever did was stay in your marriage.'

Clinton, who married Bill in 1975 and stood by him through multiple affairs - most notoriously that with Monica Lewinsky, which began in 1995 - agrees that staying with him was 'gutsy'.

But, she adds: 'That doesn't mean that's right for everybody.'

Ijanaten later told Entertainment Weekly: 'It was really nice to be human with someone who has just been, like, supernatural.

'It wasn't Rev. Whittney to Secretary Clinton, it was woman to woman '-- I want to know how was it that you were able to stay?

'I was very grateful for the connection, for what they saw in me and how our conversation, once it got together, could be some magic.'

The trailer also shows Kardashian talking about prison reform, and Goodall talking about environmentalism.

Clinton says the series aims 'to shine a light on women who inspire us to be bolder and braver.'

The series is a spin-off from their best-selling 2019 book, The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience.

Megan Thee Stallion is seen remarking: 'You're not going to break me down. You'll get worn out before I do.'

Goodall tells them: 'Every single person makes an impact on the planet every single day. We can choose what impact we make.'

Clinton also speaks to Amy Schumer, author Glennon Doyle and her soccer player wife Abby Wambach, and Gloria Steinem.

Her husband was famously unfaithful - most memorably with Lewinsky, who was a White House intern while he was president.

Clinton's lies about their affair saw him impeached, although he was later cleared.

Lewinsky referred to Bill Clinton as 'the Big He', and his wife as 'the Ba Ba', according to the memoirs of Lewinsky's former friend and confidant Linda Tripp, who died in April 2020.

Tripp describes the former president as 'a serial sexual predator who should have been a registered sex offender'.

She describes Lewinsky as being in hot pursuit of Clinton from November 1995, right until May 1997.

She said that Lewinsky had been 'floating around the Oval Office' as a summer intern stalking Clinton for more sexual encounters.

Lewinsky has said that their affair was sparked by an incident on November 14, 1995, in the middle of the government shutdown when Lewinsky had been called in to help with the phones.

On that date there had been a surprise party for one of Clinton's staffers, and at one point Lewinsky realized her thong was exposed while Clinton was near her in the room.

Lewinsky opted to keep her thong out as Clinton walked by, and a short while later when she walked by his office, Clinton smiled at her and motioned for her to come into the room.

She soon admitted to Clinton that she had a 'crush' on him, and not long after the two were kissing in the dark room.

'However wrong it was, however misguided, for who I was at that time, at 22 years old, it was how I felt,' said Lewinsky, in a 2018 documentary.

Lewinsky went back to her desk after that first kiss and was then asked to return to the study later, when the two became more intimate.

It was the start of a relationship that would find the two meeting in secret once a week for almost two years.

Tripp's evidence refocused prosecutor Kenneth Starr's investigation on Lewinsky and any laws that might have been broken.

Clinton was charged with lying under oath and obstruction of justice.

He was impeached in December 1998 by the House but acquitted by the Senate.

During Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential election campaign, an Arkansas woman, Gennifer Flowers, revealed that she had had a 12-year extramarital relationship with Clinton, who at the time was governor of Arkansas.

She said that he had assisted her in securing a job as an administrative assistant.

Clinton admitted under oath that he had had a sexual relationship with her - but insisted it was a one-off encounter, in 1977.

Actress Elizabeth Gracen, Miss Arkansas winner Sally Perdue, and Dolly Kyle Browning, a real estate lawyer, all claimed that they had affairs with Clinton during his time as governor of Arkansas

Another Arkansas woman, Paula Jones, sued Bill Clinton for sexual harassment in 1994 - while he was president.

He denied it, but ultimately agreed to an out-of-court settlement, paying Jones and her lawyers $850,000 to drop the suit.

SAN FRANCISCO, California -- A controversial billboard has popped up in San Francisco and Los Angeles discouraging Californians from moving to Texas. The message behind the billboard is adding to the already existing rift between the two states.

The message is intended to be dark: "The Texas Miracle Died in Uvalde."

The billboard shows a man in a hoodie and also comes with a warning to anyone who stops to look: "Don't move to Texas."

"I don't think it's in particularly good taste," an onlooker said.

The billboard is meant to highlight the lax gun laws in Texas following one of the deadliest school shootings in Uvalde on May 24, where 19 students and two teachers were killed.

It's not known who's behind the billboard, but it's capturing the attention of many who go by the intersection in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood.

"I totally agree with it 100%. So many people are leaving here and going to Texas anyway. It's like, 'Don't go there,'" Luke Gray, a Californian, said.

But are people from California really leaving the state to move to Texas?

The U.S. Census reports that, on average, 68,700 Californians moved to Texas each year over the past decade. Other data sources show the trend accelerated slightly during the pandemic.

But with a total state population of more than 39 million, the number of Californians moving to Texas is only a tiny percentage, less than 1 percent.

"When home prices go up in California, as they've been doing a lot in the last couple of years, more Californians move to Texas. When home prices level off or go down, fewer Californians move to Texas. For individual Californians, it's really about home prices," said William Fulton, research director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University.

Then, there's the matter of the "Texas Miracle."

The often-mentioned but less-understood verbiage came about in 2008 during the Great Recession when Texas weathered the economic storm better than most states. In fact, more jobs were even created, hence the term the "Texas Miracle."

But claiming that the Texas Miracle is dead, as the billboard claims, is adding to the rivalry between the two states.

"I think it's discouraging. We have to move on and we have to move on positively," one detractor said.
