Reporting back after the end of the DNC. We started our week on Saturday the 17th with our off days cancelled and working 12 hour shifts. Most were 2pm until 2am and there were overnight shifts as well. The protests never really got out of hand, I think maybe in total 60-70 arrests were made throughout the entire week.
I saw Vivek and Benny Johnson from a distance as they walked through the park where the protests occurred, much earlier than when any large groups arrived. Benny Johnson was one of the biggest fear mongers calling for 50-100k protesters which from most estimates the largest protest might have been about 2k.
Interesting notes:
1. The national guard was stationed at the police academy that’s in Chicago’s west loop about a half mile from the protest. They were standing in front with rifles and living in the classroom on foldout cots and sleeping bags.
2. A lot of angry women in the crowd who hated the police. I got the meanest and nastiest words and looks from zoomer/millennial white women.
3. There was a lot more police support from local businesses and buildings than I’ve ever seen. A leasing company that owned the bottom floor of their apartment complex at Ashland and lake right at the protest location let the police have the lobby where we could take a break and food was donated daily for us to eat throughout the day.
4. A lot of protestors would come for an hour or two and leave like they were checking out their favorite act at lollapalooza, not alot of people in It for the long haul.
5. There were alot of signs from the protestors that said “Abandon Harris”
6. Every Jewish person I saw was very antagonistic to the protestors, one guy had an Israel flag and was waving It in the protestors faces on a train platform.
7. I saw Cornel West up close and personal when I was on post and he was getting into an Uber. My teammates were shocked to learn he was a Harvard professor seeing as he looked homeless.
I think the protest accomplished one thing which was really helped solidify to right wingers that Muslims are bad news even though the protestors were mostly white people. Election season is in full gear now…

Shop Influencers FTC BOTG
Over the last year or so I kept hearing about this Amazon influencer program, and a few days ago decided what the hell... I'll sign up.
Got approved and turns out there are countless influencers making what is called "shoppable" videos for any product imaginable on Amazon.
The first thing that stuck out about this is how it seems like a completely blatant FTC violation. They don't want you making honest reviews - they want you to make videos that are more positive and encourage sales - but not too salesy.
Going further down the rabbit hole found countless guru type scammer channels selling courses and other crap teaching people the usual fantasy of striking it rich as an Amazon influencer.
Thousands and thousands of people are doing this on every platform. Wal-Mart is also getting in on the action, and TikTok has their own shop.
But the big question remains... why hasn't the FTC stepped in? Perhaps getting paid off?
I'd say this is also a side effect of a very desperate public trying to make money in any way possible.

Hey Adam,
Boots on the ground in BG Kentucky here and after listening to Thursday’s show I figured I would give a little background on BG as NPR decided to call us just a “small town in Kentucky”. While it’s not huge, Bowling Green is the third largest city in Kentucky and only about 45 minutes north of Nashville. It’s also home to the Corvette plant and Mammoth Cave national park (the world’s largest cave system). But enough about all that…
The Ozempic story failed to mention that BG is known for having the most restaurants per person in Kentucky and in many surrounding states. Because of this it has always been a tester market for new types of food drink and candy. New Kit Kat flavor? We get it. New ridiculously unhealthy creation at KFC or Taco Bell or McDonalds? Bowling Green is gonna roll it out (and eat it up apparently).
Anecdotally, the amount of divorces happening among people my age (elder millennial) in this area over the past half year or so has been astounding and often tied to Ozempic and similar weight loss drugs. So much so that the saying “looks like someone else is competing in the Summer Ozempics” has become a thing.
Recently I have noticed a major uptick in advertising I receive on Facebook and other socials for semaglutide drugs (even a “HIMS” commercial offering free and cheap injections) but I only see these when I’m scrolling while in the Bowling Green area. The messaging is everywhere here. When I leave the state for work there is not a peep of it on my socials.

We were just discussing The Op joining the Trump campaign. Subsequently we came to the subject of Joe en Kamabla. To us it definetly was dady long legs at the dng. We think Joe is allready dead. That's why they rerouted to the plane in stead of the hospital in Vegas. They are keeping it under raps and him on ice. The october surprise will be the death of Joe and subsequent state funeral. Weeks of coverage guaranteed. Simpathy votes guaranteed. Just wanted to share our thoughts. Curious about your thoughts on this. Mayby we will hear a discussionbetweennyou and John on the show.
