Hello Adam and John
Dame kicking and screaming here with booths on the ground from Chapala/Guadalajara area
I live next to the home town of high position cartel members (Ixtlahuacan de Los membrillos (forget pronunciation tutorial))
We overlook the valley toward Guadalajara and we’re able to see the burning cars at several places. The cartel members seem to have positioned themselves near toll interstate road entries and exits.
Locally it was “quiet “ but there was an eerie dark and tense atmosphere. No need to tell people to stay home. Shops and restaurants were closed for 2 days. They are open now but it is very quiet. This is a predominantly democratic refugee (tourist) area, and many US people want to go home. Canadians are a bit more relaxed. Personally as a Dutch person, I have seen worse.
Two things I noticed:
The lock down seemed to bring back bad memories with my neighbors from the Covid times until I started hugging them and saying: “but at least we can hug!”
With all the videos and “News” online reporting the situation I wondered how this is different than “peaceful protests” by BLM? Just because the countries name is Mexico?
The cartels are VERY aware not to shoot civilians and tourists. They have always been on the outlook for this in the past. Yes shooting between law enforcement and cartel members have happened before here
It’s quiet now again but this is far from over! Just wait and see.
Over to you now,Adam.
Thank you for your curriage,
Dame kicking and screaming.
