As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
Why do you feel depressed and not good after watching television, or the movies as of late?
The Lame Cherry is going to inform you again in a current example of how the CIA cartel Mockingbird media deliberately designs cloudy days to make you feel repressed, instead of sunny day happy.
Wonder Woman is boded the salvation of the movie industry in a 100 million dollar box office. BS that is as this was a money dump, unless women are looking for ways to become suicidal, as I am going to explain to you exactly the difference between the American Wonder Woman and the current Globalist Wonder Woman.
This is Lynda Carter in the most famous rendition of God, Mom and Apple Pie. Look at the colors, in how they are all bright and stimulate you to good feelings. Note she is Red White and Blue in all things are possible in the United States of America.
Lynda Carter did not need weapons, because she had her Rope of Truth and her bracelets which she deflected bullets with. She was all virtue.
Next we have Globalist Woman, in the entire movie is shot in depressing colors and Globalist Woman looks bathed in the color of rotting menstrual blood. Look at her weaponry and her gladiator form of desperation and doom, needing to kill all in her path.
See how sickly she is in the morbid colorless life she is.
Now who would do this, but the Tavistock mind conditioning group of the cartel, and the reason is, they want to frustrate, depress and make society feel bad, in everything is brooding like a nuclear landscape killing everything.
They do this constantly in media, and Star Trek filmed in Living Color, all looks like the Living Morgue in the later episodes. Watch Battlestar Gallactica with Loren Greene in how hopeful and vivid that was to the Edward James Olmos mortuary. The cartel has been depressing society for a generation and it works like a perpetual cloudy day by all the psychotic drugs the world consumes on their way to the grave.
Speaking of grave, here is the nuclear grave that Global Woman represents, an ashen world where her color schemes to not match and actually clash. There is no harmony in her, and that is exactly the psychological message the elite have created to disrupt your life and torture you for a few hours, which will linger on for months, and you paid for that.
Now look at Wonder Woman as Lynda Carter, in the scenes were deliberately constructed as in this scene where it alerts the audience that the positive sunny day of America's Heroine is about to enter into the darker world of evil, as she transitions from the bright outdoors to the impending battle against the darkness.
Notice that Wonder Woman is the only bright light among the darkness of the evil of Nazism. The Nazi image is enticing like a red sun, but the cinema leads you to choose the positive Wonder Woman, as she like all of us, must overcome evil with the light of good.
We can discern that Wonder Woman is chained by this darkness and she struggles to free herself from the menace it is. All positive messages reinforced.
This is classic positive American in the day when it was Ronald Reagan America, where you see the light of Wonder Woman is held in the grey surroundings of evil, which is nothing the viewers desire. This is only for a few minutes in the scene, like a passing cloud, it is not for 120 minutes of a movie depressing you and literally raping your soul.
In Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman in the classic pro American image, every audience member was set free by all of her positives. She had her invisible jet she flew and she came from an island which was of peace, but she came to the world to overcome the evil by non lethal means, as she was a super heroine and did not need to abuse or butcher her children.
Every one of you is affected with lasting effects of what this mind abuse does to each of you. It is why you are on Facebook looking for attention or on your phones texting, because you are afraid of the world and want to keep it arms length, but are desperately alone.
I mean Geez Louise, Wonder Woman could save the world and never have a hair out of place, but Global Woman runs around like her hair is a rat's nest which has never seen a comb.
Now you have been awakened again, before you go back to your narco electric stupor.

U.S. Paid $1 Billion To Paris Agreement Green Fund '' All Other Nations Combined $0'...
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 12:21
The Paris Treaty was/is always about distribution of economic wealth; and the convenient use of ''climate phrases'' as branding instruments used to create political policy favorable to multinational corporate interests who control the shifting of economic wealth.
Listen to the responses from participating EU corporate comptrollers discussing climate and the entire purpose of the Paris Treaty becomes self-evident. Example:
''The preservation of our competitive position is the precondition for successful climate protection. This correlation is often underestimated.''
~ Matthias Wissmann, President of German Auto Industry Group VDA
The preservation of Germany's competitive auto manufacturing position is contingent upon the U.S. exporting it's wealth and handcuffing itself to a faux-climate treaty. Do not take my word for it, read Wissmann's own interview. The Paris Treaty is nothing about climate, and everything about economics and multinational corporate interests.
Forbes on Fox had an interesting discussion segment earlier today where some of the panel participants explained and discussed this exact issue. The Paris Climate Treaty was never about ''climate'' it was fundamentally about ''economics''.
The Paris Climate Treaty has nothing to do with ''climate'' and everything possible to do with economics, globalism and the controlled redistribution of economic wealth as constructed through decades of advanced policies by multinational financial interests.
There are factually TRILLIONS of dollars at stake.
The primary concern for every affiliated entity surrounds economics, not climate. ''Climate'' issues are the Trojan horse, the false ruse, the talking point, the scheme to get economic systems in place -yes, political systems- to control the distributive flow of larger economic wealth within all nations. Period.
What ObamaCare was to our loss of healthcare individualism, so too is the Paris Treaty a political tool to deconstruct national economic individualism.FULL-STOP.
To understand the larger objectives of the global and financial elite it is important to understand the three-decade global financial construct they now seek to protect. Global financial exploitation of national markets:
'...Multinational corporations purchase controlling interests in various national elements of developed industrial western nations.
'...The Multinational Corporations making the purchases are underwritten by massive global financial institutions, multinational banks.
'...The Multinational Banks and the Multinational Corporations then utilize lobbying interests to manipulate the internal political policy of the targeted nation state(s).
'...With control over the targeted national industry or interest, the multinationals then leverage export of the national asset (exfiltration) through trade agreements structured to the benefit of lesser developed nation states '' where they have previously established a proactive financial footprint.
The 'America First' Trump-Trade Doctrine upsets the entire construct of this multinational export/control dynamic. Team Trump focuses exclusively on bilateral trade deals with specific policy only looking out for the national interests of the United States.
Under President Trump's Trade positions exfiltration of U.S. national wealth is essentially stopped. This puts multinational corporations, globalists who previously took a stake-hold in the U.S. economy with intention to export the wealth, in a position of holding interest of an asset they can no longer exploit.
Multinational banks have underwritten multinational corporations to own and control U.S. assets and industries. The multinationals then hire K-Street Lobbyists, Tom Donohue (U.S CoC) etc., to create/write the political policy which allows the exploitation and exfiltration of the U.S. asset and U.S. industry. Climate change political policy is part of that legislative tool.
President Trump has STOPPED the entire system dead in its tracks.
If you can see the ramifications, understand how much they have already invested in this entire construct, you can begin to understand the severity of the opposition to President Trump '' and can grasp reason for the inherent anger we are all witnessing.
Multinational corporations and billionaire financiers use climate change as a tool toward furtherance of collected global wealth. Their strategy is quite simple, and has been played out for several cycles.
Create an institutional trade instrument (housing financial bubble example), control it, expand the financial use globally, drive the controlled pricing to an apex and reap the financial rewards. Wash '' Rinse '' Repeat.
Their expressed holy grail for ultimate human behavioral control is a global tax on all people more commonly known as a ''carbon-trading tax''. Just like ObamaCare, this tax on personage first requires everyone to accept the assumption of why the tax is needed.
A planetary tax on personage, behavior and activity, through a market-based trade vehicle (Paris Agreement), under U.N. exclusive control; which subverts the national economic interests of sovereign nations.
The ''Carbon Trading'' fundamental financial instrument is the foundational block of the financial interests behind modern climate change. The latest exhibition of a decades long series of international construct was the Paris Climate Change agreement.
REUTERS '' Investors with more than $15 trillion of assets under management urged governments led by the United States to implement the Paris climate accord to fight climate change despite U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to pull out.
''As long-term institutional investors, we believe that the mitigation of climate change is essential for the safeguarding of our investments,'' according to the letter signed by 214 institutional investors and published on Monday.
''We urge all nations to stand by their commitments to the Agreement,'' it said. Signatories of the letter included the California Public Employees Retirement System and other pension funds from Sweden to Australia. (read more)
Why are multinational banks, and multinational corporations, and multinational investment groups and pension funds so desperate to retain the Paris agreement?
Simple, those funds have been used by the multinational interests to create the entire system. These funds provided the seed money for the entire financial scheme. Ask yourself'....
'... Where exactly in the U.S. budget did this little $1 billion line-item expenditure come from?Again, as we have done in the past, we draw attention to the secret meeting in Sea Island Georgia in 2016 when the billionaire vested participants gathered with the political class to discuss how they could stop candidate Donald J Trump.
2016 -Billionaires, tech CEOs and top members of the Republican establishment flew to a private island resort off the coast of Georgia this weekend for the American Enterprise Institute's annual World Forum, according to sources familiar with the secretive gathering.
The main topic at the closed-to-the-press confab? How to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump. (The meeting was not planned to be a strategy session on how to stop the GOP front-runner, but rather evolved into one, as a subsequently obtained agenda makes clear.)
Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google co-founder Larry Page, Napster creator and Facebook investor Sean Parker, and Tesla Motors and SpaceX honcho Elon Musk all attended.
So did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), political guru Karl Rove, House Speaker Paul Ryan, GOP Sens. Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Ben Sasse (Neb.), who recently made news by saying he ''cannot support Donald Trump.''
Along with Ryan, the House was represented by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton (Mich.), Rep. Kevin Brady (Texas) and almost-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), sources said, along with leadership figure Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.), Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Texas) and Diane Black (Tenn.).
Philip Anschutz , the billionaire GOP donor whose company owns a stake in Sea Island, was also there, along with Democratic Rep. John Delaney, who represents Maryland. Arthur Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times, was there, too, a Times spokeswoman confirmed.
''A specter was haunting the World Forum'--the specter of Donald Trump,'' (read more)
Pay attention to the voices now shouting opposition to President Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Treaty and you will identify those same oppositional voices who assembled in all economic matters prior to this moment in 2017. Their vested interests center around the economics, not ''the climate''.
Affirmation of the #ParisAgreement is not only about the climate: It is also about America remaining the global leader.
'-- Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) May 31, 2017
At first glance, the scope of this entire scheme seems so all encompassing it may seem like a political conspiracy theory. However, this is a conspiracy reality.
President Trump is very smart about the long-term ramifications to this 'treaty'. If the heavily influenced industrialized nations commit themselves to this agreement they will be anchoring their economic manufacturing base within a tiered system of ridiculously burdensome regulations and agreements.
The strategic benefit to the United States will stem from not participating in the regulatory stranglehold that accompanies the agreement. Obviously all nations that compete with the U.S on international trade agreements would, for once, be at a disadvantage; and our American manufacturing and industrial base would be able to take strategic advantage. This is why those nations will never complete their promises under the Paris Agreement, they can't and they won't.
In larger terms back in the U.S., President Trump's refocused policy objectives remove the political benefit from Wall Street and places it back with Main Street, reversing a three decade long shift.
This approach is adverse to the interests of the globalists.
President Trump's economic team are well aware of the strategic advantage is walking away from the Paris Climate Treaty. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and their entire economic and financial team know what is needed to reverse the decades long construct and defeat the interests of the global elites.

SCOTUS Requests Trump VISA Restriction Challengers File Legal Responses by Monday June 12th'....
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 12:20
President Trump has requested the Supreme Court grant an expedited review of lower court rulings that have blocked the temporary travel restrictions and visa bans.
The Supreme Court justices have now asked challengers to the Trump Executive Order to file their responses to the petition for review (the requests for stays of the lower courts' rulings). Those responses are due on or before 3 p.m. Monday, June 12.
(Via SCOTUS BLOG) ['...] Arguing that lower courts ''openly second-guessed'' President Donald Trump's determination that national security concerns require a freeze on new visas for travelers from six Muslim-majority countries (Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen), last night the federal government asked the Supreme Court to step into the legal dispute over the constitutionality of the executive order that the president signed on March 6.
The government also asked the court to put on hold two lower-court rulings blocking the implementation of the executive order, telling the justices that those rulings undermine ''the President's constitutional and statutory power to protect'' the United States. (read more)

Comedian Bill Maher apologises for racial slur on live TV - BBC News
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 12:11
Image copyright Getty Images Image caption "I regret the word I used... and am very sorry," Maher said the following day Comedian Bill Maher has apologised for using a racial slur on live television.
The host of "Real Time with Bill Maher" on HBO used a derogatory term for African-Americans while interviewing Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse.
The "joke" prompted a huge backlash, particularly on social media. Maher said he used the slur in the "banter of a live moment".
"The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry," he said in a statement released the next day.
The controversy arose during a segment of the show when Maher was interviewing the Republican Senator Ben Sasse.
This story contains language that readers may find offensive.
Image copyright Twitter Image caption Grammy-winning musician Chance the Rapper was among Maher's critics When Maher said he should visit Nebraska more, the senator quipped: "You're welcome - we'd love to have you work in the fields with us."
"Work in the fields?" Maher replied. "Senator, I'm a house nigger," he said.
The comedian immediately backpedalled as the remark was met with a muted response from the audience.
"No, it's... it's a joke," he said, turning to the crowd.
The controversy quickly became a national trending topic on social media in the United States.
The interview continued without further interruption, but Senator Sasse later tweeted that he wished he'd been "quick enough" to challenge Maher.
"Free speech comes with a responsibility to speak up when folks use that word. Me just cringing last night wasn't good enough," he said.
Maher's network, HBO, also criticised his "joke" as "completely inexcusable and tasteless," and said the network would edit it out from re-runs of the show.
Later, Maher released a statement to the press.
"Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I'm up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn't have said on my live show," he said.
"Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry."
In a 2015 interview with Variety magazine, Maher acknowledged the risk he takes in going live, rather than pre-recording like some of his television rivals.
"Live on tape means 'not live,' of course. It was live at some point. The difference with our show is it is 'live' live," he said.
"As I'm saying it, you are seeing it. It does add an extra, kind of tightrope element to it, because you can't take anything back or editorially fudge it. It is what it is."
Into the light: How humans became intelligent | The Economist
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 11:48
From Bacteria to Bach and Back: The Evolution of Minds. By Daniel Dennett. W.W. Norton; 496 pages; $28.95. Allen Lane; £25.
HUMAN neurons are distant relatives of tiny yeast cells, themselves descendants of even simpler microbes. Yet they are organised in structures that are capable of astonishing feats of creativity. How did the world get from bacteria to Bach, from fungus to fugues? Daniel Dennett, an American philosopher and cognitive scientist, tells the tale in his new book, revisiting and extending half a century of work on the topic.
Britain suffers its third deadly terrorist attack in as many months
Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn both struggled on Question Time
James Mattis tries to reassure Asian allies about Donald Trump
Ireland looks set for a young, gay prime minister
Are British pollsters headed towards another miss?
Donald Trump asks the Supreme Court to reinstate his travel ban
The story is one of Darwinian natural selection: of complexity emerging gradually as beneficial mutations are preserved and harmful ones weeded out. It requires the reader to make some ''strange inversions of reasoning'''--bold changes of perspective on the nature of design, purpose and consciousness'--to loosen the pull of ''Cartesian gravity'', or the human propensity to think of the mind as mysterious and non-physical.
One of Mr Dennett's key slogans is ''competence without comprehension''. Just as computers can perform complex calculations without understanding arithmetic, so creatures can display finely tuned behaviour without understanding why they do so. The rationale for their behaviour (diverting a predator, say, or tempting a mate) is ''free-floating'''--implicit in the creatures' design but not represented in their minds. Competence without comprehension is the default in nature, Mr Dennett argues, even among higher animals.
How then did human intelligence arise? People do not have a special faculty of comprehension. Rather, the human mind has been enhanced by a process of cultural evolution operating on memes. Memes are copyable behaviour'--words are a good example.
Initially, memes spread in human populations like viruses, selected simply for their infectiousness. Some were useful, however, and the human brain adapted to foster them: genetic and memetic evolution working together. Words and other memes gave humans powerful new competences'--for communication, explicit representation, reflection, self-interrogation and self-monitoring. To use a computer analogy, memetic evolution provided ''thinking tools'''--a bit like smartphone apps'--which transformed humans into comprehending, intelligent designers, triggering an explosion of civilisation and technology.
Mr Dennett sees human consciousness, too, as a product of both genetics and memetics. The need to communicate or withhold thoughts gives rise to an ''edited digest'' of cognitive processes, which serves as the brain's own ''user interface''. The mental items that populate consciousness are more like fictions than accurate representations of internal reality.
''From Bacteria to Bach and Back'' concludes with a look ahead. Mr Dennett expects that computers will continue to increase in competence but doubts that they will soon develop genuine comprehension, since they lack the autonomy and social practices that have nurtured comprehension in humans. He worries that people may overestimate the intelligence of their artefacts and become over-reliant on them, and that the institutions and practices on which human comprehension depends may erode as a result.
This only hints at the richness of this book. Mr Dennett provides illuminating explanations of the ideas he employs and cites fascinating experimental work. Many of his claims are controversial, and some readers will be more persuaded than others. However, Mr Dennett has an excellent record of predicting developments in cognitive science, and it would be rash to bet that he is far off track. Persuaded or not, readers will find their minds enriched with many powerful thinking tools.

The Management of Savagery - Think Defence
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 11:30
The Management of Savagery''Thus, we need to massacre (others) and (to take) actions like those that were undertaken against the Banu Qurayza and their like. But if God should give us power and we take control and justice spreads, how tender the people of faith will be at that time and they will say to the people: ''Go, for you are free.''''
The Management of Savagery
Having looked already at Hybrid War and the new UK doctrine of Integrated Action I thought this time that I would look at what is reputed to be the doctrine that ISIS is following.
''The Management of Savagery'' was written circa 2004 by Abu Bakr Naji and is assessed to be highly influential within jihadist and specifically ISIS circles. ''The Management of Savagery'' is much more than the A-Z of how to establish a caliphate, it is an Islamist justification for the use of violence and in particular of exemplary violence for political (religious) ends. If Afghanistan was about Armed Politics according to Emile Simpson then what we are looking at with ''The Management of Savagery'' is as much Armed Evangelisation as it is caliphate building according to Abu Bakr Naji.
The book has been translated into English and is widely available through the power of Google; the version I have used is the 2006 translation by William McCants of the John M. Olin Institute for Strategic Studies at Harvard University. It is important to note that while I have spent time in the Middle East and am familiar with some Islamic and Islamist teachings I am not an Arabist.
The title ''The Management of Savagery: The Most Critical Stage Through Which the Umma Will Pass'' refers not to the stage managed savagery for which ISIS is infamous. Rather it refers to the interim stage between the collapse of the old order and the establishment of the caliphate and reflects the characteristics of that stage; ungoverned space where life is brutal, the politics savage and where order must be established and the Umma (nation or community) defended.
The Stages to Establishing the CaliphateFigure 1: The Stages to establishing the Caliphate.
It is immediately apparent from reading it that the logic of the work and the worldview of the author is significantly different from that familiar to many in the West. The structure is both more circular and multi-active than linear and sequential, and the world is viewed through an Islamic and eschatological lens. This is important because although beating ISIS militarily may be straightforward, in order to defeat the movement we have to defeat them in terms that they recognise, and the logic of their campaign plan and narrative may not be apparent to us. A force can be defeated militarily, but a movement is only defeated when it recognises itself as defeated in its own terms; the narrative of any campaign must reflect this. It is also very clear that this doctrine is part indoctrination as well as doctrine, it is the ''why'' as well as the ''what'' and the ''how''. It explains its ideological roots and is much more holistic than UK doctrine: a mix of Fukyama's ''The Origins of Political Order'', Clausewitz's ''On War'', ''ADP Operations'' and JDP 3-40 ''Security and Stabilisation: The Military Contribution'' in one document and underpinned throughout by theological justification. This should make it abundantly clear that the struggle against Islamist groups such as ISIS is a much broader struggle than a purely military one. Indeed considering the focus given to the theological underpinning of the document I go so far as to state that the Centre of Gravity for Islamists who follow these teachings is likely in their particular strain of Islamist theology.
''The Management of Savagery'' is divided into five topics:
1) Definition of ''the management of savagery'' and an overview of its historical precedents
2) The path for establishing an Islamic state.
3) The most important principles and policies for implementing the plan of action and achieving, in general, the goals of the stage of ''the power of vexation and exhaustion''; and, in particular, the goals of the stage of ''the management of savagery.
4) The most important problems and obstacles that we will face, and ways of dealing with them.
5) Conclusion: Are there other solutions that are easier than this solution?
The text is a holistic guide to a putative campaign to establish a caliphate and covers a broad spectrum of topics. Topic three for example, is sub-divided into a further 10 sub-topics.
Topic 3: Principles and Policies (illustrating the broad range covered)Figure 2: Principles and Policies contained in Topic Three.
Throughout the emphasis is on teaching not what to do, but what subjects should be thought of and the way to think about them. In that sense this is very much conceptual as opposed to practical doctrine, although it does give practical advice and historical vignettes. As conceptual doctrine it reminds me in part of the German doctrine of Auftragstaktik as it enables operations to be conducted with unity of purpose in the absence of effective communications. It is worth noting that the text is evidence of a coherent analysis of recent campaigns and as such even dispersed non-state groups now have the means as well as the motive to conduct a lessons learnt loop and then publish and disseminate the results.
Throughout the book these elements are clear in the design methodology:
This is a religious struggle to establish a theocratic (shari'a) state.War is the means by which this will be brought about. This war is a religious duty (active jihad). This war must demonstrate strength and shari'ah justice. The use of violence is essential to the campaign narrative; it is both justified and exemplary. This violence sends a message and the message must be consistent with the war (strength and shari'ah justice) narrative. The use of violence (and the Islamic justification for it) pervades the text. Active jihad is raised under the interpretation given here to a level equal with if not beyond that of spiritual jihad: ''when we say that the religious practice of jihad '--despite the blood, corpses, and limbs which encompass it and the killing and fighting which its practice entails '--is among the most blessed acts of worship for the servants, if not the most blessed in reality''. Violence is designed to be exemplary, to terrorize and deter the opponent. As such the information campaign is indistinguishable from the military campaign. The fight is as much about the message as it is about the tactical effect and the violence must always be considered in terms of the campaign narrative. In the UK we still tend to think of the tactical actions first and the Influence effects second (although our new doctrine of Integrated Action is designed to change this). In ''The Management of Savagery'' Shari'ah comes first, the campaign narrative supports this and the violence supports this; they are nested within each other.
The Place of Violence (central and nested)Figure 3: The Place of Violence.
The violence is also designed to provoke a Western response which will in turn inflame a Muslim response. This is based on an analysis of the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan where it was assessed that intervention both weakened the Soviet state and inspired Muslims to conduct jihad. The greater the West's participation in the fight, the greater the reaction from the Umma and the greater momentum imparted to the struggle. The West and its proxies will be seen as unable to win and the initiative and momentum will shift to the Islamists. Not escalating into this narrative is therefore going to be one of the West's significant strategic challenges.
Building momentum in the struggleFigure 4: Building Momentum.
Bearing in mind that this was written in 2004, the following extract on ''paying the price'' highlights the exemplary nature of the violence and indicates the possible underlying thinking of ISIS in how they killed Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasaesbeh:
''As for the stage of ''the administration of savagery,'' we will confront the problem of theaerial attacks of the enemy '' crusader or apostate '' on military training camps or residential regions in areas which we administer. Even though defensive fortifications and trenches are put in place to deal with that problem, we should also follow the policy of ''paying the price'' when confronting the crime of the enemy. The policy of ''paying the price'' in this situation will deter the enemy and make him think one thousand times before attacking regions managed by a regime of the administration of savagery because he knows that he will pay the price (for doing so), even if (the retribution) comes later.''
Violence and war are seen as both a political and religious means to an end, hardening and purifying the Umma as well a means of spreading fear amongst and defeating the enemy. Significant theological exposition and justification is given throughout the text for this radical approach to violence. The very radical nature of this ideology possibly contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction, as the theology stretches most mainstream schools of Islam. However countering this ideology can only be done effectively through these selfsame mainstream schools and for those who have not been exposed to contrary Islamic interpretations the ideology will seem credible.
As Clausewitz says: ''The first, the supreme, the most far-reaching act of judgment that the statesman and commander have to make is to establish . . . the kind of war on which they are embarking.'' Understanding ''The Management of Savagery'' is an indispensible first step towards understanding the kind of war that some Islamist groups have embarked upon; it is not necessarily the war we think it is. For those involved in campaign planning at the operational and strategic levels this is undoubtedly a text worth understanding, it should also be essential reading for those involved in Influence activities.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz Uses Voice Changer To Call Law Firm Suing DNC - Forgets To Disable Caller ID | Zero Hedge

There was a hilarious filing with the court today in the lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee - in which Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a defendant...
Attorney Elizabeth Lee Beck's office received a call just before 5PM on Thursday from an individual who was apparently using a 'robotic and genderless' voice changing device, sniffing around with questions about the DNC lawsuit filed over cheating in the 2016 election. The suit - based on documents released by hacker Guccifer 2.0, claims that the DNC colluded with Sec. Hillary Clinton's campaign 'to perpetrate a fraud on the public.' ( see more here)
After a brief chat with the law firm's secretary, the 'mysterious' voice-masking caller concluded the call with an 'Okey dokey.'
And whose number showed up when the law firm turned around and googled the number from the caller ID? Why, who else but Debbie Wasserman Schultz' Aventura office!

On Kathy Griffin, Performative Outrage, and the Relativity of Shame | Teen Vogue
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 23:24
Thigh-High Politics is an Op-Ed column by Teen Vogue writer Lauren Duca that breaks down the news, provides resources for the resistance, and just generally refuses to accept toxic nonsense.
Earlier this week, Kathy Griffin released a mind-numbingly stupid video in which she stares wide-eyed into the camera, holding a gruesome mold that resembled Donald Trump's severed head. The prop was dripping with blood and the Internet smelled it almost immediately.
Backlash was exactly what Griffin was aiming for '-- and it certainly wasn't unjustified '-- but there was something inauthentic about the intensity of the response. The stunt was quickly glommed in with ''the left,'' which contributed to the tribalism of public condemnation from both sides. Conservatives clutched their pearls in unison, while mainstream media figures like CNN's Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper clarified their personal disturbance as if participating in a roll call. The posturing of righteous indignation was not only the safest possible reaction, but something of an obligation. This outrage performance is an unnerving handicap on the productivity of public discourse and further evidence of our mounting inability to process relativity in a moment where the cultural force of shame appears to be malfunctioning. Or, in other words: Where the hell is the line if Donald Trump gets to be president?
Trump rose to political prominence with his inherently bigoted stance on Obama birtherism, and was elected despite a rich history of racist housing policy and sexual assault allegations. On the 2016 campaign trail, he called Mexicans rapists, took aim at the families of war heroes, and said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue without losing voters. Then he won the election.
The simple fact that Trump won the election marked a condonation of his rap sheet, which continues to destabilize our propensity for shock. And while we discussed the merits of Kathy Grifin trying too hard to get attention, Trump pulled out of the Paris Agreement, effectively cancelling the United States's commitment to the preservation of the planet. If this course goes uncorrected, environmental disasters will increase, and our children and grandchildren will be forced to grapple with unimaginably harsh daily conditions. But please, keep dragging Kathy Griffin on Twitter.
This isn't about whether what Griffin did was really so bad, but our collective inability to prioritize a system of shared values. Holding up the decapitated head of the president is deeply disturbing, but so was Trump's mocking of a disabled reporter and bragging about sexually assaulting women on the Access Hollywood tapes. We're all well aware that Trump's list of unforgivable infractions is longer than a Costco receipt, and yet he occupies our highest office, supremely unscathed. Meanwhile, the factionalized mobs slice through even the most irrelevant public figures with brute force. In both conservative condemnation and progressive purity checking, the standards apply to everyone except the man who ought to be held up as the highest example. We're living in an outrage culture without any sort of enforceable set point.
Less than 24 hours after the stunt, Griffin admitted to her mistake. "I'm a comic. I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it,'' she said in an apology video. ''I went way too far.'' But, again, where is the line exactly? It has become increasingly unclear what is unacceptable and who decides as much.
In this case, the decision fell to corporate America. Griffin lost her New Year's Eve gig, much like Trump's Access Hollywood accomplice, Billy Bush, lost his job at the Today show because of his role in the recording. Advertisers are becoming increasingly politicized, and companies, media and otherwise, are unwilling to bear the burden of risk. The problem is that the calculus that informs those decisions has been thrown completely out of whack. When Trump was elected, it seemed that the impossible success of his shamelessness had ushered in a post-shame moment. And it did, but only for him.
Ours is an era of unbalanced pitchforking in which one can be shamed out of CNN and NBC, but not the Oval Office. And we are all somewhat complicit. This noxious phenomena is a long way from fixing, but each of us can be more thoughtful about our participation. When the next opportunity for outrage emerges, check in with your genuine reaction before diving headfirst into the bouncy house of public shame. You know, do you, but investigating Russian collusion, safeguarding American democracy, and protecting the future of the Earth are just a few items of concern that might be more pressing than a comedian doing a dumb thing. Be mindful to focus your energy on issues of true significance and avoid performing emotions for the sake of likes and retweets. When each day presents a fresh cornucopia of reasons to be terrified for the future of this country, there really is no need to fake it.

HBO under pressure to fire Bill Maher after he says N-word on TV show

HBO is facing calls to fire Bill Maher from his talkshow after he used the N-word in a conversation with the Nebraska senator, Ben Sasse.
Discussing his new book on Friday evening, Sasse told Maher the TV host would be welcome in Nebraska as ''we'd love to have you work in the fields with us''.
''Work in the fields?'' Maher replied. ''Senator, I'm a house nigger.''
The Real Time with Bill Maher audience laughed and groaned, with some applause. Sasse kept quiet, before Maher said: ''No, it's a joke.''
DeRay McKesson, a Black Lives Matter activist and former Baltimore mayoral candidate, led the criticism on social media. ''Bill Maher has got to go,'' he wrote. ''There are no explanations that make this acceptable.''
McKesson added: ''And why does the audience think it was OK to laugh? And Ben Sasse doesn't even flinch. What is happening in the world?
''Trump has undeniably moved the posts re: what is acceptable in political discourse but we can't sit idly by, as discourse breeds actions.''
Maher did not immediately comment in response to media inquiries. On Saturday, Sasse gave his view in a series of linked tweets.
''Am walking off a redeye from [Los Angeles International Airport],'' he wrote, before offering ''three reflections on Bill Maher''.
''I'm a first amendment absolutist. Comedians get latitude to cross hard lines. But free speech comes with a responsibility to speak up when folks use that word. Me just cringing last night wasn't good enough.
''Here's what I wish I'd been quick enough to say in the moment: ''Hold up, why would you think it's OK to use that word?...
''... The history of the N-word is an attack on universal human dignity. It's therefore an attack on the American Creed. Don't use it.''
The pressure on Maher follows CNN's firing of the comedian Kathy Griffin, who said at a press conference on Friday that Donald Trump was ''trying to ruin my life for ever'' after she was pictured holding a mock-up of the US president's severed head.
Apple exec appears to shout at Rihanna to 'sit down' during NBA finals game | Music | The Guardian

Rihanna grabs attention wherever she goes. Photograph: KyleTerada/ddpUSA/BarcroftImages
It was almost the perfect metaphor.
At home court for a basketball team whose tech industry owners are abandoning their roots in Oakland for a new stadium (and tonier fan base) in San Francisco, a wealthy tech executive sitting courtside shouts at a black woman for standing up and cheering '' a black woman who just happens to be pop superstar Rihanna.
Rihanna grabs attention wherever she goes, but on Thursday night, her enthusiastic support of the Cleveland Cavaliers as they were blown out by the Golden State Warriors in game 1 of the NBA finals was the most exciting game in town.
The eight-time Grammy-winning singer is believed to have heckled Kevin Durant during a free throw, and delighted this reporter at least when she dabbed after bowing to LeBron James.
It was another incident, however, that set the internet aflame: Apple senior vice-president of internet software and services Eddy Cue standing up and '' possibly '' shouting toward Rihanna to sit down.
Here's another view of Cue.
Cue, whose role at Apple includes overseeing Apple Music and iTunes, is a huge Warriors fan whose wild gesticulations made the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle last year. He is also decidedly a member of the tech elite whose newfound enthusiasm for the once woeful Warriors has left many longtime fans feeling priced-out and abandoned.
Cue denied that he had been addressing Rihanna, tweeting that he was ''excited about our lead and actually talking to'' someone else. (Apple did not respond to questions, referring reporters to Cue's tweet.)
The denial has not stopped some of Rihanna's fans from threatening a boycott of Apple products over the disrespect.
A spokesperson for Rihanna did not immediately respond to a request for comment, so we'll just leave this here.
Facebook shareholders press management on fake news - BBC News
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 15:16
Image copyright JUSTIN TALLIS/AFP/Getty Image caption Facebook has almost 2bn monthly users and made more than $10bn in profits in 2016 For Facebook, it's fake news. But shareholders say it's a real issue.
Owners of Facebook stock were rebuffed on Thursday after they called on company leaders to share more information about what they are doing to address the circulation of fake news.
They asked the firm to prepare a report on the subject.
Facebook maintained a report was unnecessary and would not benefit the company.
The proposal, presented at the firm's annual meeting, did not pass. That was expected, since chief executive Mark Zuckerberg controls a majority of the firm's voting power.
But Mr Zuckerberg addressed the issue as part of his remarks, pointing to the steps the firm has already taken, including making it harder for fake news spammers to make money from ads.
The firm has said it is experimenting with its news feed and testing new features to make it easier to report questionable posts. It also announced plans to hire 3,000 more people to monitor posts.
Fake news - is Facebook moving fast enough?
Facebook 'observed propaganda efforts' by governments
How Facebook is starting to tackle fake news in your news feed
Mr Zuckerberg said the firm expects to invest more in artificial technology, but the technology is not "100% there yet".
"The right way to go about this problem is to fight information with more information," he added.
Facebook faced a backlash after the 2016 US presidential election, when studies found false news was widely viewed through the social media site.
Mr Zuckerberg was initially dismissive that fake news shaped the outcome of the election. But the firm has since conceded that it observed propaganda efforts by governments.
Natasha Lamb of Arjuna Capital, who presented the fake news proposal at the annual meeting, said Facebook cannot afford to think of itself as a neutral platform.
She called the steps Facebook has taken "too little, too late".
"Investors seek assurance that fake news, fabricated content and hate speech is being handled responsibly over time," she said.
Company leaders during the question and answer session said they knew fake news was a turn-off for users. They said investors should expect more announcements related to the issue.

The vast majority of online content creators fund their work with advertising. That means they want the ads that run on their sites to be compelling, useful and engaging--ones that people actually want to see and interact with. But the reality is, it's far too common that people encounter annoying, intrusive ads on the web'--like the kind that blare music unexpectedly, or force you to wait 10 seconds before you can see the content on the page. These frustrating experiences can lead some people to block all ads'--taking a big toll on the content creators, journalists, web developers and videographers who depend on ads to fund their content creation.
We believe online ads should be better. That's why we joined the Coalition for Better Ads, an industry group dedicated to improving online ads. The group's recently announced Better Ads Standards provide clear, public, data-driven guidance for how the industry can improve ads for consumers, and today I'd like to share how we plan to support it.
New tools for publishersThe new Ad Experience Report helps publishers understand how the Better Ads Standards apply to their own websites. It provides screenshots and videos of annoying ad experiences we've identified to make it easy to find and fix the issues. For a full list of ads to use instead, publishers can visit our new best practices guide.

Home - Coalition for Better Ads
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 15:10
Advertising helps support valuable free content, robust journalism and social connections across the internet. Consumers, however, are increasingly frustrated with ads that disrupt their experience, interrupt content and slow browsing.
Leading international trade associations and companies involved in online media formed the Coalition for Better Ads to improve consumers' experience with online advertising. The Coalition for Better Ads will leverage consumer insights and cross-industry expertise to develop and implement new global standards for online advertising that address consumer expectations.
The Initial Better Ads Standards - Coalition for Better Ads
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 15:10
The Coalition for Better Ads has developed initial Better Ads Standards for desktop web and mobile web for North America and Europe, based on comprehensive research involving more than 25,000 consumers.
The Coalition's research identifies the ad experiences that rank lowest across a range of user experience factors, and that are most highly correlated with an increased propensity for consumers to adopt ad blockers. These results define initial Better Ads Standards that identify the ad experiences that fall beneath a threshold of consumer acceptability. Four types of desktop web ads (six tested ad experiences) and eight types of mobile web ads (twelve tested ad experiences) fell beneath this threshold. A summary of these types of ad experiences is presented below.
Extensive consumer input and empirical data shaped the initial Better Ads Standards. While the Coalition's consumer research was designed to identify the least preferred ad types, it also provides insight into consumers' evaluation of a far broader range of ad experiences, including those more preferred by consumers. By focusing the definition of Better Ads Standards on the least preferred ad experiences, the Coalition's methodological approach leaves open the possibility for continued innovation in the development of new ad experiences. Visit the Coalition's research page to learn more about the other tested ad experiences.

Judicial Watch Finds New Emails Showing Huma Abedin Doing Clinton Foundation Favors For Russia Connected Group While at The State Department - Katie Pavlich
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 14:30
Government watchdog Judicial Watch has found a number of new emails belonging to former Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton containing classified information and showing favors being done for a Russia connected organization through the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State. The emails were obtained through a lawsuit against the Department and a recent court order.
"The new Abedin emails also reveal additional instances in which Clinton's then- scheduler Lona Valmoro forwarded the former secretary of state's detailed daily schedule to top Clinton Foundation officials. The new emails also reveal a number of favors that were requested and carried out," Judicial Watch found. "In May 2010, Abedin tells Band that she has 'hooked up' people from the Russian American Foundation with 'the right people' at the State Department after Abedin received a request from Russian American Foundation Vice President Rina Kirshner, forwarded by Clinton Foundation donor Eddie Trump (no relation to President Trump)."
Judicial Watch found a series of email chains containing classified information that were not turned over from the private server to the State Department as required by law.
"The new documents included 115 Clinton email exchanges not previously turned over to the State Department, bringing the known total to date to at least 432 emails that were not part of the 55,000 pages of emails that Clinton turned over to the State Department. These records further appear to contradict statements by Clinton that, 'as far as she knew,' all of her government emails were turned over to the State Department," the documents show. "On December 6, 2010, Secretary Clinton shared classified information with non-U.S. government employees Justin Cooper, then-aide to President Clinton who helped manage Hillary Clinton's unsecure email system, and Clinton Foundation director Doug Band (neither of whom held security clearances). The email instructs her aide Oscar Flores to 'print for Bill' (presumably Bill Clinton)."
During an interview at a tech conference in California this week, Clinton said she did nothing wrong in using a private email server and that the scandal surrounding her actions was a "the biggest nothing burger, ever."
''These shocking new Clinton emails show why the Justice Department should reevaluate, reopen, or reinvigorate Clinton, Inc. investigations,'' Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said about the new information. ''The casual violation of laws concerning classified material and noxious influence peddling show the Clinton State Department was 'corruption central' in the Obama administration. No wonder Clinton's allies in the State and Justice Departments had been slow-walking and hiding these emails.''

ACLU Claims U.S. Pulling Out of Paris Climate Agreement Is Racist - Lauretta Brown
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 14:21
There were many reactions to President Trump deciding to leave the Paris Climate Agreement Thursday having to do with concerns for the environmental impact of the decision, but the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) actually claimed that the decision ''would be a massive step back for racial justice, and an assault on communities of color across the U.S.''
Pulling out of the Paris Agreement would be a massive step back for racial justice, and an assault on communities of color across the U.S.
'-- ACLU National (@ACLU) June 1, 2017Huh?
The left-leaning organization went on to explain that position tweeting, ''Drought, hurricanes and flooding will impact every American'-- but climate change doesn't affect us all equally.''
''Black and brown people are more likely to live near coal plants, and have higher asthma rates than white Americans do,'' they added.
''That disparity is only going to worsen in coming years, and it's why we must #ActOnClimate if we're serious about racial justice,'' they concluded.
The tweets drew a variety of reactions with many mocking the ACLU for making the climate issue a race issue without even providing evidence of their claims.

German rock festival evacuated over 'terrorist threat': police
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 09:05
One of Germany's biggest music festivals was interrupted on Friday over a "possible terrorist threat," police said.
Organisers asked fans at the three-day event to leave calmly "in order to help police investigations" but said they were hopeful the festival would resume on Saturday.
The three-day "Rock am Ring," held at the famous Nuerburgring sports complex near the western city of Nuerburg, is scheduled to run until Sunday.
It draws tens of thousands of people annually.
In a statement, police in the city of Coblenz said they were in possession of "concrete elements, in the light of which a possible terrorist threat cannot be ruled out."
"As safety is the key priority and any danger to festivalgoers has to be avoided as much as possible, a decision has been taken to suspend the festival for today," the statement said. There were no further details.
Security for the festival had already been stepped up, with an additional 1,200 staff, in response to the May 22nd Manchester bombing which occurred after a concert by US singer Ariana Grande.
Last year's Rock am Ring programme was curtailed by violent storms in which dozens of people were injured by lightning.
Anis Amri, a 24-year-old Tunisian, hijacked a truck, killed its Polish driver and ploughed the vehicle through the market, claiming 11 more lives andwounding dozens.

Vladimir Putin to Megyn Kelly: Think! | Veterans Today
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 08:53
By Jonas E. Alexis on June 2, 2017
Putin to Kelly: "Look at your colleagues, what they are doing here [in Russia]. They are all over our domestic policy, they're sitting on our head, dangling their feet and chewing a bubble gum. Entertaining themselves. It's a systematic, rude and absolutely unceremonious interference in our domestic policies that lasts for many years, also at a diplomatic level.''
''So, you want a genuine and honest dialogue, Mrs. Kelly?''
'...by Jonas E. Alexis
Megyn Kelly is back on the news media. She has recently done an exclusive interview with Vladimir Putin, but she should have done a little homework first. She should have reviewed the Fareed Zakaria and Charlie Rose interviews very carefully before she proceeded to challenge Putin.
It seems that Kelly hasn't realized that Vladimir Putin is intellectually savvy and politically prudent. She doesn't seem to get the idea that Putin is not a carbon-copy of the unpredictable Donald Trump, the guy who can say one thing today and change his mind completely the next day.
Kelly, as a New World Order agent, was regurgitating what the political mafia had desperately tried to articulate: Russia hacked the DNC and is therefore a threat to America. Kelly mentioned things like IP addresses, which she alleged were linked to Russia. Putin responded:
''IP addresses can be invented '-- a child can do that! Your underage daughter could do that. That is not proof. There is no specific evidence, no facts, just assumptions, allegations and conclusions based on those allegations nothing more.''
Putin moved on to point out the facts that ''Hackers can be anywhere. They can be in Russia, in Asia'...even in America, Latin America. They can even be hackers, by the way, in the United States, who very skillfully and professionally, shifted the blame, as we say, on to Russia.''
Kelly cannot respond to Putin's comments rationally largely because she has been living in matrix which excludes practical reason in the political landscape. She has been told what to think. In fact, she has been paid millions of dollars to do just that. Putin again challenged Kelly to think a little deeper about those serious issues:
''Look at your colleagues, what they are doing here [in Russia]. They are all over our domestic policy, they're sitting on our head, dangling their feet and chewing a bubble gum. Entertaining themselves. It's a systematic, rude and absolutely unceremonious interference in our domestic policies that lasts for many years, also at a diplomatic level.''[1]
In other words, even if the silly premise that Russia hacked the DNC were true, then Kelly would still have a hard time explaining why the United States has meddled in Russia's politics and economy over the past few decades. In fact, it was agents from the US'--namely the Chicago Boys and academics at Harvard'--that literally destroyed the Russian economy back in the 1990s.[2]
Moving on to the situation in Syria, Putin historically destroyed Kelly. With respect to United States using the so-called rebels to fight Assad, Putin said:
''You use them today, and never know what happens to you tomorrow. They might be fighting you'... So, Al-Qaeda was at some point created to fight against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, and then Al-Qaeda hit the US on September 11.''[3]
Those devastating comments aren't really glad tidings to New World Order agents, who keep propounding that Vladimir Putin is evil. But it gets worse. The Institute for Gulf Affairs, a Washington-based think tank, has recently released a stunning report documenting that Saudi Arabia has recruited at least 400 ISIS members from the United States. Those people have been studying in the US and they are dual citizens. The report states:
''The Saudi government is aware of most, if not all, Saudi students in the United States, U.K, Australia, New Zeeland, Japan and other countries who abandoned their scholarships and joined ISIS and its sister groups. The Saudi government runs one of the most sophisticated systems that can track its citizens' entry and departure from the country.
''The system run by the ministry of interior is able to deny all government services to the offenders for as little as unpaid traffic tickets. All Saudis are mandated to have finger print verification for all their government services including traveling out of the country. The Saudi government did not share any information regarding Saudi students in the United States leaving to join ISIS and other terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq with the U.S. government.''[4]
The report moves on to name dozens of ISIS members who actually studied in the U.S. Given all these facts, does it stand to reason to say that Russia is actually worse than ISIS or Saudi Arabia? Doesn't it stand to reason to say that John McCain is an enemy of the United States? And can anyone really tell us why Kelly is not going after those people as well?
The way I see this issue is that Putin is challenging the tenets of the New World Order'--not through Satanism or diabolical enterprise but through practical reason. This is not to say that Putin does not have his own problem. This is not to say that Putin hasn't made mistakes. We all have made errors!
But let us be honest with ourselves here: Putin is different. He does bring something to the political table, and that really angers the New World Order community, which is largely based on group-think.
You may disagree with Putin on many other issues, which is perfectly legitimate. But the fact is that he is making New World Order agents mad. Putin has framed his political worldview on Logos, and Christianity in particular, and the New World Order hates both.

The US State Department has reportedly notified refugee advocacy groups via email to announce a near doubling of the number of refugees allowed into the US, from around 2,500 so far this month to over 1,500 per week in June.
President Donald Trump has sought to lower the cap of refugees entering the US, but an email sent out Thursday from State Department spokeswoman Jennifer L. Smith told private agencies operating worldwide that they would be allowed to bring refugees to the US ''unconstrained by the weekly quotas that were in place,''according to the New York Times.

The refugee advocates that help manage the nearly two-year application process to come to the US received the news the same day the 4th Circuit Appeals Court ruled against Trump's travel ban on six Muslim-majority countries.
Under the weekly quotas, about 830 refugees arrived in the US during each of the first three weeks of May, the Times reported. The number limit was reportedly mostly due to budgetary rules set by a temporary spending bill Congress passed last fall, but Congress this month passed another spending bill, allowing the ceiling to be broken.
An anonymous State Department official told the Times that the department consulted with the Department of Justice before making a decision to adjust the quotas.
The 2017 fiscal year has so far seen 45,732 refugees enter the US, nearing Trump's preferred limit of 50,000, less than half of the current limit of 110,000 annually.
The New York Times reported that advocacy groups anticipate a total of 70,000 refugees coming to the US from October 1, 2016, to September 30, 2017. That would be a drop of nearly 15,000 from the total during the 2016 fiscal year.
Ancestry.com denies exploiting users' DNA - BBC News
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 08:40
Image copyright Bloomberg A leading genealogy service, Ancestry.com, has denied exploiting users' DNA following criticism of its terms and conditions.
The US company's DNA testing service has included a right to grant Ancestry a "perpetual" licence to use customers' genetic material.
A New York data protection lawyer spotted the clause and published a blog warning about privacy implications.
Ancestry told BBC Radio 4's You and Yours its terms were being changed.
Headquartered in Utah, Ancestry is among the world's largest for-profit genealogy firms, with a DNA testing service available in more than 30 countries.
'Perpetual'The company, which uses customers' saliva samples to predict their genetic ethnicity and find new family connections, claims to have more than 4 million DNA profiles in its database.
Ancestry also stores the profiles forever, unless users ask for them to be destroyed.
Image caption AncestryDNA told the BBC it would be removing the 'perpetuity clause' from its terms and conditions - still present at the time of writing The company's terms and conditions have stated that users grant the company a "perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable, transferable license" to their DNA data, for purposes including "personalised products and services".
In a statement to You and Yours, an Ancestry spokesperson said the company "never takes ownership of a customer's data" and would "remove the perpetuity clause".
It added: "We will honour our commitment to delete user data or destroy their DNA sample if they request it. The user is in control."
'Unaware'Joel Winston, a consumer rights lawyer and former New Jersey State deputy attorney-general, was one of the first to spot the legal wording and to warn of the possible implications.
"Ancestry.com takes ownership of your DNA forever; your ownership of your DNA, on the other hand, is limited in years," he said.
He added: "How many people really read those contracts before clicking to agree? How many relatives of Ancestry.com customers are also reading?"
Image copyright Getty Images Image caption More than 4 million customers worldwide have used AncestryDNA, which requires users to send a saliva sample for testing Mr Winston also warns that many consumers are unaware of the additional uses of the data.
In its terms and conditions Ancestry makes reference to "commercial products that may be developed by AncestryDNA using your genetic information".
One customer, Richard Peace, used AncestryDNA to learn more about his family history.
'Not happy'He told You and Yours he "knew nothing" about the commercial use when he signed up for the test.
"I'm not happy about it and today I will be emailing them to ask them not to use the information," he said.
Ancestry told the BBC: "We do not share user data for research unless the user has voluntarily opted-in to that sharing."
The company added: "We always de-identify data before it's shared with researchers, meaning the data is stripped of any information that could tie it back to its owner."
The ambitious scale of Ancestry's plans does have support among some academics.
Debbie Kennett, a genetics researcher at University College London, welcomed the aim of building a large, global DNA database.
"For genealogy purposes we really want, and rely on, the power of these large data sets," she told You and Yours. "A DNA test on its own doesn't tell you anything at all."

A staffer for California Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Kamala Harris (D) has been arrested and accused of participating in a mysterious group that impersonates a police force.
The staffer, Brandon Kiel, is alleged to have been involved in the Masonic Fraternal Police Department, the Los Angeles Timesreported.

The group's website says it ''provides services to Masonic Sovereign Grand Masters and their Masonic Jurisdictions, as well as other Fraternities, Sororities and Greek Organizations.'' It claims to be active in 33 states and Mexico, and to have links to the Knights Templar, an ancient military order.Along with Kiel, David Henry and Tonette Hayes were also arrested for their alleged involvement with the group.
Kiel, who is reportedly on leave from his job as deputy director of community affairs at the California Department of Justice, has been accused of improperly using his government identification. Henry is accused of perjury.
California law enforcement reportedly pursued the three after meeting with group members who did not give details about the group.
Investigators reportedly found uniforms, weapons, badges and vehicles similar to those used by law enforcement during searches in Santa Clara, Calif., where the group's website claims it is based.

New York Times Will Offer Employee Buyouts and Eliminate Public Editor Role - NYTimes.com
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 23:49
The New York Times offered buyouts to its newsroom employees on Wednesday, aiming to reduce layers of editing and requiring more of the editors who remain.
In a memo to the newsroom, Dean Baquet, the executive editor, and Joseph Kahn, the managing editor, said the current system of copy editors and ''backfielders'' who assign and shape articles would be replaced with a single group of editors who would be responsible for all aspects of an article. Another editor would be ''looking over their shoulders before publication.''
''Our goal is to significantly shift the balance of editors to reporters at The Times, giving us more on-the-ground journalists developing original work than ever before,'' they said in the memo.
In a separate memo, Arthur Sulzberger Jr., the publisher, said the company would be eliminating the position of public editor, which was established to receive reader complaints and question Times journalists on how they make decisions. Liz Spayd, the current public editor, will leave The Times on Friday.
The buyouts are meant primarily for editors, but reporters and others in the newsroom will also be able to apply for them, the memo said. Mr. Baquet and Mr. Kahn said that the savings generated by the reduction in editing layers would be used to hire as many as 100 more journalists.
The Times would turn to layoffs if not enough people volunteer for buyouts, Mr. Baquet and Mr. Kahn said in the memo.
The offer comes as The Times continues its shift from a legacy print operation to a more digitally focused newsroom. Reducing the layers of editing was one of the primary recommendations in an internal study issued in January, the 2020 Report, that was meant to serve as a blueprint for the next phase of that transformation.
A ''print hub,'' which handles the tasks involved in producing the printed newspaper on a nightly basis, was created in 2015 in an effort to free editors to focus on the digital audience, but the process of shedding longtime habits built around daily print deadlines continues to evolve. As its digital audience has grown, The Times has focused on publishing articles online quickly, placed an emphasis on visual journalism and invested in so-called service journalism with its acquisition in October of the product-review websites The Wirecutter and The Sweethome.
In May, the Times Company reported strong digital growth, including a 19 percent gain in digital advertising revenue.
But those gains were not substantial enough to offset a continuing, industrywide decline in print advertising, historically the main revenue source for newspaper companies. Print advertising at The Times fell 18 percent in the most recent quarter, causing an overall decline in advertising revenue of 7 percent.
The company has increasingly relied on subscription revenue, which spiked amid Americans' close attention to the presidential election last year and the start of President Trump's term. The Times registered a net gain of 308,000 digital-only subscriptions in the most recent quarter, the largest number for any quarter in its history. The surge fed an 11 percent increase in circulation revenue.
It was the second straight quarter of record-breaking subscriber growth, with 276,000 new digital-only subscriptions '-- more than the total for 2013 and 2014 combined '-- being added in the last three months of 2016. The Times now has more than 2.2 million digital-only subscriptions.
The public editor position was created in 2003 to rebuild trust among readers after the scandal involving Jayson Blair, a Times reporter who was found to have fabricated sources and plagiarized repeatedly.
Ms. Spayd, who was the sixth person to hold the position, declined to comment when reached late Wednesday but told TheColumbia Journalism Review in an email: ''The Times is reimagining itself in all sorts of ways, and the decision to eliminate the public editor's role is just one part of that. I'm honored to have been among the six who've sat in this chair, and to be among those who tried to keep a great institution great, even as it made the inevitable stumbles.''
Just a few national news organizations, including NPR and ESPN, still have a public editor or a similar position. The Washington Post eliminated its ombudsman in 2013.
Mr. Sulzberger, in a newsroom memo, said the public editor's role had become outdated.
''Our followers on social media and our readers across the internet have come together to collectively serve as a modern watchdog, more vigilant and forceful than one person could ever be,'' he wrote. ''Our responsibility is to empower all of those watchdogs, and to listen to them, rather than to channel their voice through a single office.''
On Tuesday, The Times announced the creation of the Reader Center, an initiative that appeared to overlap somewhat with the public editor's role. The center will be responsible for responding directly to readers, explaining coverage decisions and inviting readers to contribute their voices.
As news spread on Wednesday that The Times had offered buyouts targeted at editors, some readers fretted that coverage would suffer. Most articles at The Times go through at least two or three editors before being published.
Rick Edmonds, a media business analyst at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a school for journalism in St. Petersburg, Fla., said that copy editors '-- who, in addition to editing for grammar, spelling and style, check facts, correct faulty logic and make sense of garbled prose '-- had frequently been targeted in cost-cutting efforts in newsrooms across the country.
''I think there is a level of scrutiny and quality control that's kind of disappearing,'' Mr. Edmonds said.
Grant Glickson, the president of the NewsGuild of New York, the union that represents Times employees, said in a statement that the buyout announcement was ''devastating for our members and grave news for the state of journalism.''
''These Guild members don't simply correct comma splices; they protect the integrity of the brand,'' he said. ''They are the watchdogs that ensure that the truth is told.''
It is the sixth time since 2008 that the company has offered newsroom buyouts. Some employees were laid off in 2014 when The Times did not receive enough buyout volunteers.
In the midst of those reductions, the newsroom has continued to hire. The Times newsroom has a staff of about 1,300, near its record high.
The staff had anticipated the announcement of buyouts for months, one of several sources of looming uncertainty. Management is negotiating a new contract with the NewsGuild, and the company intends to consolidate staff members on fewer floors in its Midtown Manhattan headquarters so that it can lease out more space. Some employees have been temporarily displaced to another building during construction on new workspaces, which the company has said should be completed by the end of the year.
Correction: May 31, 2017
An earlier version of this article referred incorrectly to an effort to contact Liz Spayd, the public editor. Ms. Spayd was contacted late Wednesday for comment; it is not the case that she did not respond to a request for comment during the day.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Has Been Quietly, Deceitfully Renamed
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 22:44
High fructose corn syrup is a killer. Since humans started consuming it, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes incidence has increased more than seven fold. Even when used in moderation it is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay, and more.
So what does the FDA do about this silent killer? It allows food producers to change the name of the infamous sweeter in order to trick consumers into thinking they are not eating high fructose corn syrup.
That's right, high fructose corn syrup now goes by a new, deceitful name '' ''Natural Sweetener'' '' designed to trick customers into making ill-informed choices that will impact on their health.
Consumers are finally catching on to the fact that what we put in our mouths effects our waistline as well as our health. Since consumers have become much smarter and finally waking up to these realities, they are demanding healthier food choices. Every food company is smearing 100% natural on every box of anything regardless of whats inside the box.
Now we have to know the new sneaky name to know whether or not we are consuming High Fructose Corn Syrup or not. Obviously the best way to avoid this mess is to buy from companies you really trust.
Big food companies are hiding ingredients they know we really don't want to consume in their products. This time it's the presence of a new version of high fructose corn syrup. But this is not the innocuous fructose that has sweetened the fruits humans have eaten since time began. This is a questionable ingredient with many names that could be causing all sorts of health problems.
The product is General Mills' Vanilla Chex, an updated version of the Chex cereal sold in most conventional grocery and discount stores for many years. The front of the box clearly states that the product contains ''no high fructose corn syrup'' (HFCS), but turn it over to read the ingredient list and there it is '' the new isolated fructose.
Why is that a problem? According to the Corn Refiners Association (CRA), there's been a sneaky name change. The term 'fructose' is now being used to denote a product that was previously known as HFCS-90, meaning it is 90 percent pure fructose. Compare this to what is termed 'regular' HFCS, which contains either 42 or 55 percent fructose, and you will know why General Mills is so eager to keep you in the dark.
CRA explains:
''A third product, HFCS-90, is sometimes used in natural and 'light' foods, where very little is needed to provide sweetness. Syrups with 90% fructose will not state high fructose corn syrup on the label [anymore], they will state 'fructose' or 'fructose syrup'.''
And the way that they get away with this is fairly simple:
''Simply eliminating the high fructose corn syrup designation for the laboratory sweetener that's nine-tenths fructose and calling it what it really is: fructose. And that's how a processed-food product like Vanilla Chex that contains ''fructose'', a substance that, according to the corn refiners, used to be called HFCS-90, can now declare itself to be high fructose corn syrup-free.''

BA to blame computer meltdown on IT engineer | Daily Mail Online
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 22:40
British Airways looks set to pin the blame for its £150million IT meltdown on a single worker who rebooted the system too quickly when the power failed, it emerged today.
The engineer allegedly failed to follow proper procedure at a Heathrow data centre and caused 'catastrophic physical damage' to servers leaving 75,000 stranded across the globe.
Saturday morning's outage lasted just 15 minutes but it stopped online check-in, grounded planes and broke baggage systems and meant BA was unable to resume a full schedule until Tuesday.
Some passengers are still waiting to be reunited with their luggage almost a week on.
Saturday morning's outage lasted just 15 minutes but it stopped online check-in, grounded planes and broke baggage systems (pictured at Heathrow) and meant BA was unable to resume a full schedule until Tuesday
The IT engineer involved is reportedly from contractor CBRE Global Workplace Solutions, who are helping the airline with its investigation.
A source told The Sun that BA could still face months of data problems as they are still finding corrupt files.
He said: 'It's very much human error that's to blame. It's not over yet'.
The Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) system that broke down was at Boadicea House at Heathrow - a building built for state-owned BOAC. The system was designed and installed there in the mid-1980s.
It failed on Saturday at around 8.30am.
It appears that alternative power sources including batteries and a diesel generator may also have failed.
BA's emergency procedures say that the power would then be restored 'gradually' with its other data centre at Heathrow - Comet House - taking 'up the slack'.
But a source told the Telegraph that power 'resumed in an uncontrolled fashion', damaging servers containing all sorts of data about flights, passengers and even flight paths.
It meant that BA staff needed days to rebuild the servers to get services back to normal.
Willie Walsh (left) claimed BA's uninterruptible power source (UPS) protecting one of its two Heathrow data centres broke down - and says Chief Executive Alex Cruz (right) should not resign
The airline's reputation has been badly damaged after the computer blackout on Saturday morning stranded 75,000 people across the globe (pictured at Heathrow on Sunday), leaving it with a potential £150million compensation bill
British Airways was last night embroiled in a row with insurance companies over who was liable to compensate the thousands of customers left stranded over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Association of British Insurers has accused the airline of giving passengers the wrong information and complicating the claims process to avoid having to pay up.
It also said that customers were being 'passed from pillar to post' after the carrier's IT power failure cancelled the flights of 75,000 passengers.
BA promised it would compensate people seeking to recoup money for 'disruption expenses', which includes the cost of hotels, meals and phone calls. But customers looking to claim non-flight related expenses have been told to claim through their travel insurance first.
The insurance industry however, claims they should seek compensation from BA first.
Before customers can enter details of their claim on BA's online compensation form, they are asked if they have travel insurance for the disrupted journey.
MailOnline can reveal the UPS system that broke down was from the 1980s and at Boadicea House at Heathrow (pictured) - which once belonged to BOAC
If the passenger answers 'Yes', BA then asks if they have claimed or intend to make a claim, on their travel insurance.
If the passenger answers 'No', the BA website prompts them to claim with their travel insurer first.
Helen Dewdney, a consumer rights activist, said: 'BA is making it as difficult as they possibly can so fewer people will claim. It looks like they're trying to get back every penny they possibly can.' The Association of British Insurers said: 'Any cover available under travel insurance will usually kick in only if compensation is not available from any other source.
'Those affected should seek compensation and any refunds of expenses in the first instance from British Airways.
'People affected by the disruption should be able to claim compensation and refunds for any expenses as simply as possible, not being passed from pillar to post.'
A BA statement said: 'We will fully comply with all of the relevant EU compensation regulations regarding any cancelled or substantially delayed services and for associated welfare claims (eg hotel accommodation, transport... meals, and telephone costs, while you were delayed).' Meanwhile a major investor in BA's parent company IAG said the carrier would have to focus all efforts on protecting its brand to stem any knock-on effects from the power failure.
Long-Buried Email Shows Hillary Clinton Refused To Fly On Same Plane As Michelle Obama
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 19:32
"... if you can't run your own house, you certainly can't run the White House."By Jack Davis

During the 2016 campaign, Democratic president candidate Hillary Clinton and former first lady Michelle Obama gave the impression they were inseparable allies.
However, an email from 2011 paints a very different picture.
The email was unearthed as part of a trove of documents recovered from the private email server Clinton used as secretary of state. It was made public Thursday by Judicial Watch, which had filed a Freedom of Information request to get access to the documents. Judicial Watch released about 2,000 Clinton emails Thursday.
Advertisement - story continues below
The email related to Obama is part of a chain in which Clinton told top aide Huma Abedin she would attend the funeral for former first lady Betty Ford, but that there was a condition.
''I'd be honored to speak,'' Clinton wrote. ''Is it OK that we and Mrs. O take two separate planes?''
The 2011 funeral came only three years after the Obama campaign was attacking Clinton with an ad that showed Michelle Obama criticizing Clinton in remarks that were understood to refer to the affairs of former President Bill Clinton.

The ad featured video footage of Michelle Obama telling a crowd, ''One of the things, the important aspects of this race is role modeling what good families should look like. And my view is that if you can't run your own house, you certainly can't run the White House. Can't do it!''
A 2016 book by Kate Anderson Brower said the impact of the campaign lingered.
''The 2008 presidential campaign left deep and lasting scars on both the Clinton and the Obama camps, and they are still shockingly fresh,'' she wrote then.
The emails released by Judicial Watch Thursday also show the Clintons made free use of government travel.

One July 2011 email chain shows Abedin telling Chelsea Clinton's travel agent that Chelsea Clinton would not need to pay for airfare to go to Germany to see the U.S. women's soccer team play.
Abedin said Clinton and a Clinton Foundation employee would be made part of the ''official delegation'' going to the game.
They would ''fly on official govt plane both ways and they will take care of hotels and all transportation,'' Abedin wrote.
At the time, Chelsea Clinton was employed full-time by the Clinton Foundation.
'Your water is changing your sexuality,' says Lib Dem candidate for UK General Election · PinkNews
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 18:14
A Liberal Democrats candidate has said she believes ''feminising hormones in the water supply'' are affecting people's sexuality.
Susan King, who is standing in the west Midlands seat of Telford, was asked about her views on Lib Dem leader Tim Farron's repeated refusal to say whether gay sex was a sin.
After a week of intense questioning and controversy in April, Farron eventually told the BBC that he didn't believe gay sex was sinful.
King responded to the question, posed by the Shropshire Star during a live webchat, by saying: ''I do feel environmental influences are affecting reproduction.
''All the pollution is having an effect on our DNA and our population is changing and evolving.''
She added: ''There are a lot of feminising hormones getting into the environment and that has to be taken into consideration.
''It's affecting people's sexuality basically.
''People are at liberty to interpret how they want to live themselves.''
Unprompted, she continued to say: ''Phthalates, the chemicals used in making plastics, children's toys are affected.
''Everything that's getting into the environment is disrupting the way industrialisation has changed our living conditions, residues of all sorts of feminising hormones in the water supply from pharmaceutical etc which is affecting gender of fish stock etc.''
King, a landscape specialist who has stood twice before in Leicestershire, was then asked if she thought that was having an effect on people's sexuality.
''I do,'' she responded.
''I've done a lot of research connected with water quality, and that is where I gained my political and media experience.''
King worked for three years as a director of the National Pure Water Association, according to Campanies House.
This non-profit organisation campaigns for non-fluoridated water, despite broad scientific agreement that fluoride has reduced tooth decay in the general population.
Kuldip Sahota, the Labour candidate in the Conservative-held seat, said he was ''horrified and saddened'' that King had made ''these harmful comments about people's sexuality.
''To suggest that our water supply is affecting people's sexuality is absolutely unacceptable,'' he continued.
''This is a damaging statement and I strongly condemn these comments.
''This is not the first time the Lib Dems have been out of touch on LGBT issues. The Lib Dems have clearly chosen an out of touch candidate who's basic understanding is both warped and harmful.
''She should apologise immediately.''
Green Party candidate Luke Shirley said he was left ''shocked and in a state of dumbfounded disbelief when I read these comments.
''I can't believe that these views are held by anyone let alone someone who is trying to stand for a position of elected office.
''These type of comments have no place in the 21st century and this plays into prejudicial views.''
He added: ''I think Ms King should apologise for her harmful comments.''
In response, a Lib Dem spokesperson said: ''Susan King's remarks were wrong and do not reflect party policy or accepted science.
''An internal post-election candidate review will take place after polling day where her eligibility to stand for the party in future will be reviewed.''
In a statement released by the Lib Dems, King said: ''I am deeply sorry for the offence caused by my comments. This was not my intention.
''The Liberal Democrats have a strong record of upholding LGBT+ rights which I fully support.''
Multiple attempts to ask whether King would apologise for her comments '' rather than the offence they caused '' and retract the comments have thus far been answered only with the assertion that ''she's apologised''.
Bill Tomlinson, chairman of the Liberal Democrats in Telford, said: ''I wouldn't like to cause any offence to anyone, and I'm sure that if people are that orientation they might not want to believe that they were that way because of water.
''If any offence has been caused, I'd like to apologise on her behalf as well.''
The candidate defended her Farron when asked, saying that ''Tim is entitled to his own views and the Liberal Democrats are renowned for being open to all genders and welcoming everyone's involvement in the political process.''
The issue about Farron's comments was centred around sexuality, not gender.
King also called the Lib Dem leader ''an independent thinker'' who was simply ''sticking to his principles''.
When she was asked about whether Farron's views ''chime with liberal values,'' King answered by bringing up the issue of abortion.
''I have strong Christian views myself,'' she said, ''and I would find it difficult to make that decision.
''I personally chose not to have any tests in my last pregnancy even though I was considered an older mother at 38, but that's how I choose to live my life and everybody is entitled to their own view.''
The Lib Dems finished fifth in the west Midlands constituency at the 2015 general election, with 2.3 percent of the vote.
The candidate for the Conservative Party did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Deutsche Bank Trader Admits Guilt In Fraud Conspiracy To Rig Precious Metals Markets
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 18:04
After months of "smoking guns" and conspiracy theory dismissals, a Singapore-based Deutsche Bank trader (at the center of fraud allegations) finally confirmed (by admitting guilt) what many have suspected - the biggest banks in the world have conspired to rig precious metals markets.
The Deutsche Bank trader, David Liew, pleaded guilty in federal court in Chicago to conspiring to spoof gold, silver, platinum and palladium futures, according to court papers. Bloomberg notes that spoofing involves traders placing orders that they never intend to fill, in an attempt to manipulate the price.
Following an introductory period that included orientation and training, LIEW was eventually assigned to the metals trading desk (which included base metals and precious metals trading) in approximately December 2009. During the Relevant Period, LIEW was employed by Bank A as a metals trader in the Asia-Pacific region, and his primary duties included precious metals market making and futures trading.
...
Between in or around December 2009 and in or around February 2012 (the "Relevant Period"), in the Northern District of Illinois, Eastem Division, and elsewhere, defendant DAVID LIEW did knowingly and intentionally conspire and agree with other precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, and palladium) traders to: (a) knowingly execute, and attempt to execute, a scheme and artifice to defraud, and for obtaining money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises, and in furtherance of the scheme and artifice to defraud, knowingly transmit, and cause to be transmitted, in interstate and foreign commerce, by means of wire communications, certain signs, signals and sounds, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1343,which scheme affected a financial institution; and (b) knowingly engage in trading, practice, and conduct, on and subject to the rules of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange ("CME"), that was, was of the character of, and was commonly known to the trade as, spoofing, that is, bidding or offering with the intent to cancel the bid or offer before execution, by causing to be transmitted to the CME precious metals futures contract orders that LIEW and his coconspirators intended to cancel before execution and not as part of any legitimate, good-faith attempt to execute any part of the orders, in violation of Title 7, United States Code, Sections 6c(a)(5)(C) and 13(a)(2); all in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371.
...
Defendant LIEW's employer, Bank A, was one of the largest global banking and financial services companies in the world. Bank A's primary precious metals trading desks were located in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Defendant LIEW and other precious metals traders, including traders at Bank A, engaged in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud affecting a financial institution and spoofing, in the trading of precious metals futures contracts traded on the CME.
Defendant LIEW placed, and conspired to place, hundreds of orders to buy or to sell precious metals futures contracts that he intended to cancel and not to execute at the time he placed the orders (the "Spoof Orders").
...
Bank A operated a global metals trading team with traders in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout his tenure on the metals trading desk at Bank A, defendant LIEW was supervised by and interacted with more experienced traders on the team. LIEW was supervised by other metals traders in the Asia-Pacific region, and, due to the nature of the nearly 24-hour trading cycle, LIEW interacted with members of the trading team in the United States and the United Kingdom. It was after joining the metals trading desk that LIEW was taught to spoof by other metals traders, including other metals traders at Bank A.
Defendant LIEW generated Spoof Orders manually. That is, LIEW physically clicked his computer mouse or keyboard keys to enter each Spoof Order, and physically clicked his mouse or keyboard keys to cancel that order.
A common technique employed by defendant LIEW was to place and cancel one or more Spoof Orders on one side of the prevailing market price. The intent of these Spoof Orders was to facilitate the execution of an existing Primary Order on the opposite side of the market. By placing Spoof Orders opposite the Primary Order, LIEW intended to create a false appearance of supply or demand and induce other market participants to react to this false information in order to move the market price and/or increase the available quantity at the desired price of the relevant futures contract. During the time the Spoof Order was live in the market, or shortly after it was cancelled, LIEW's Primary Order on the other side of the market would often execute at a more favorable price than was otherwise available before the Spoof Order had been placed.
...
Coordinated spoofing involved one or more additional participants. When engaging in coordinated spoofing, defendant LIEW and/or one or more co-conspirators would place one or more Spoof Orders on one side of the market in order to facilitate the execution of Primary Orders placed on the opposite side of the market by either LIEW or a coconspirator. For example, LIEW would place a Spoof Order in order to facilitate the execution of a Primary Order placed by a co-conspirator, or a co-conspirator would place a Spoof Order in order to facilitate the execution of a Primary Order placed by LIEW. At other times, LIEW and one or more co-conspirators would each place one or more Spoof Orders in order to facilitate the execution of a Primary Order placed by LIEW or a co-conspirator.
During and in furtherance of the conspiracy, defendant LIEW engaged in solo spoofing or coordinated spoofing with traders at Bank A hundreds of times.
Prosecutors have brought very few cases against alleged spoofers but have stepped up their enforcement since the adoption of the Dodd-Frank financial law.
Deutsche Bank declined to comment.
From a July 2012 blog post, we discover that Liew quit banking then to start a tech company...
A bit like Vinicius, I was (and still am) in my third year out of University and making a very comfortable living as a trader at Deutsche Bank. Here in Singapore (sadly), a sort of toxic culture has been brewing that your ''success'' is deemed by your salary. Yes, I was getting a 6 digit annual salary, yes I was in the top % of wage earners of my age group (I'm turning 27 this year). A lot of people have labelled me ''crazy'' to ''throw all I had away'', to which I would reply ''This is my life, not yours. But thanks and good luck to you too''
This is not the first time Deutsche Bank has been involved, implicated, and exposed to rigging the precious metals markets.
As we noted in December, when we first reported that Deutsche Bank had agreed to settle allegations it had rigged the silver market in exchange for $38 million, we revealed something stunning: "in a curious twist, the settlement letter revealed that the former members of the manipulation cartel have turned on each other", and that Deutsche Bank would provide docments implicating other precious metals riggers. To wit: "In addition to valuable monetary consideration, Deutsche Bank has also agreed to provide cooperation to plaintiffs, including the production of instant messages, and other electronic communications, as part of the settlement. In Plaintiff's estimation, the cooperation to be provided by Deutsche Bank will substantially assist Plaintiffs in the prosecution of their claims against the non-settling defendants."
Overnight we finally got a glimpse into what this "production" contained, and according to documents filed by the plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit, what Deutsche Bank provided as part of its settlement was nothing short of "smoking gun" proof that UBS Group AG, HSBC Holdings Plc, Bank of Nova Scotia and other firms rigged the silver market. The allegation, as Bloomberg first noted, came in a filing Wednesday in a Manhattan federal court lawsuit filed in 2014 by individuals and entities that bought or sold futures contracts.
In the document records surrendered by Deutsche Bank and presented below, traders and submitters were captured coordinating trades in advance of a daily phone call, manipulating the spot market for silver, conspiring to fix the spread on silver offered to customers and using illegal strategies to rig prices.
''Plaintiffs are now able to plead with direct, 'smoking gun' evidence,' including secret electronic chats involving silver traders and submitters across a number of financial institutions, a multi-year, well-coordinated and wide-ranging conspiracy to rig the prices,'' the plaintiffs said in their filing.
The latest evidence is critical because as the plaintiffs add, the new scheme ''far surpasses the conspiracy alleged earlier.'' As a result, the litigants are seeking permission to file a new complaint with the additional allegations, i.e., demand even more reparations from the defendants who have not yet settled, and perhaps even more evidence of ongoing market rigging. Their proposed complaint broadens the case beyond the four banks initially sued to include claims against units of Barclays Plc, BNP Paribas Fortis SA, Standard Chartered Plc and Bank of America Corp.
Representatives of UBS, BNP Paribas Fortis, HSBC, Standard Chartered and Scotiabank didn't immediately respond to e-mails outside regular business hours seeking comment on the allegations. Barclays and Bank of America declined to immediately comment.
The Deutsche Bank documents show, among other things, how two UBS traders communicated directly with two Deutsche Bank traders and discussed ways to rig the market. The traders shared customer order-flow information, improperly triggered customer stop-loss orders, and engaged in practices such as spoofing, all meant to destabilize the price of silver ahead of the fix and result in forced selling or buying. It is also what has led on so many occasions to the infamous previous metals "slam", when out of nowhere billions in notional contracts emerge, usually with the intent to sell, to halt any upside moment in the precious metals/
"UBS was the third-largest market maker in the silver spot market and could directly influence the prices of silver financial instruments based on the sheer volume of silver it traded," the plaintiffs allege. "Conspiring with other large market makers, like Deutsche Bank and HSBC, only increased UBS's ability to influence the market."
Some examples of the chats quoted are shown below. In the first example a chart between DB and HSBC traders in which one HSBC trader says "really wanna sel sil[ver" to which the other trader says "Let's go and smash it together."
Another chat transcript from May 11, 2011 reveals a Deutsche Bank trader telling a UBS trader that the cartel "WERE THE SILVER MARKET"(sic) based on feedback from outside traders to which UBS replies, referring to the silver market "we smashed it good", leading to the following lament "fking hell UBS now u make me regret not joining."
Finally, for all those traders who wonder what happened to their stops as a result of dramatic moves in the price, here is the answer: a June 2011 chat between a UBS and a DB trader comes down to the following: "if you have stops... who ya gonna call... STOP BUSTERS"
Liew's admission of guilt to a conspiracy to spoof precious metals markets seems like the final nail in the coffin of any conspiracy theory deniers - theory is now fact once again. The question is - will the regulatory crackdown on these manipulations actually reduce rigging in the markets?
Google is bringing adblocking to Chrome, and will let publishers charge readers who use other adblockers
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 18:01
Google is launching an adblocker for its Chrome browser next year, according to multiplereports (and confirming rumors from the spring). It will allow publishers to charge readers who have other adblockers installed a set amount per pageview, the Financial Times reported:
[Google] is launching ''funding choices'' where publishers can set a price per page view for consumers using ad blockers to pay '-- or abandon their blockers and see the ads. Google will track how many pages people view and charge them through a new version of their Google Contributor service.
Google's own Chrome-native adblocker is expected to be turned on by default on both mobile and desktop, according to The Wall Street Journal, and will filter out ''unacceptable ads,'' guided in part by guidelines released by the industry group Coalition for Better Ads (of which Google, alongside other advertising companies, is a member).
Google is the dominant player in digital advertising '-- accounting for 40.7 percent of digital ad revenues in the U.S., according to eMarketer forecasts. It eats up 78 percent of total revenues from search ads in the U.S., and continues to grow adoption of its AMP format.
Google hasn't announced or confirmed its Chrome adblocker or micropayments-for-adblock-users plan '-- and considers it a ''filter,'' not a ''blocker'' '-- but it's been briefing publishers and advertisers, according to the Journal, reportedly giving publishers a six-month heads up to prepare:
To help publishers prepare, Google will provide a self-service tool called ''Ad Experience Reports,'' which will alert them to offending ads on their sites and explain how to fix the issues. The tool will be provided before the Chrome ad blocker goes live, the people familiar with the plans say.
As described to publishers, Google's feature will block all ads on sites that have a certain level of unacceptable ads. Publishers have been advised to ensure their sites are compliant if they want their ads to be displayed.
Vladimir Putin to Satanists and warmongers: Lying about Assad ain't working
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 17:56
By Jonas E. Alexis on June 2, 2017
Putin: "Has Assad made mistakes? Yes, quite a few. And what about people confronting him? Are they angels? Who are they who kill people there, execute children? Are they people who we should support? Primarily, we are defending not Assad but the Syrian statehood. We don't want to see the situation there become like it is in Libya, Somalia or Afghanistan.''
''If NWO agents cannot use reason to make a point, then they are right: I am their enemy.''
'...by Jonas E. Alexis
Vladimir Putin has cut Satanists and New World Order agents to pieces again by saying that they have no political clothes when it comes to Syria and Assad. You remember how those Satanists kept blaming Assad for the chemical attack? Putin declared:
''We are absolutely convinced that it was a provocation. Assad didn't use the weapons. It was done by people who wanted to blame him for that.''
Obviously New World Order agents like John McCain and Satanists like the Neocons do not appreciate statements like that, but Putin was trying to reach a common here. He continued:
''Has Assad made mistakes? Yes, quite a few. And what about people confronting him? Are they angels? Who are they who kill people there, execute children? Are they people who we should support? Primarily, we are defending not Assad but the Syrian statehood. We don't want to see the situation there become like it is in Libya, Somalia or Afghanistan.''
This is just a rational and defensible position. We have argued elsewhere that the so-called rebels themselves used chemical weapons in Syria, but not a single Satanist has had the moral and intellectual courage to confront those terrorists and hold them accountable.
Furthermore, and as Seymour M. Hersh has pointed, not a single Satanist wants to discuss the fact that the Israelis cooked up the ''evidence'' that Assad used chemical weapons on his own people.[1] Listening to the Israeli gangsters has cost America greatly, and even John J. Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago has forcefully argued that this is the case. He wrote:
''The pursuit of global domination, however, has other costs that are far more daunting. The economic costs are huge'--especially the wars'--and there are significant human costs as well. After all, thousands of Americans have died in Afghanistan and Iraq, and many more have suffered egregious injuries that will haunt them for the rest of their lives'...''[2]
Backing the so-called Syrian rebels, said Mearsheimer, ''does not solve the terrorism problem, as the most powerful groups are comprised of jihadists who hate America.'' Mearsheimer indirectly ends up saying that if Zionist ideology were to be suspended for at least a year in America, decent Americans would have a chance to thrive:
''The economic costs of global dominance have been enormous. For starters, the United States has had to maintain a huge and sophisticated military with bases all over the world so that it can intervene anywhere on the planet. Not surprisingly, its defense budget dwarfs that of any other country; in 2012, for example, the United States spent more on defense ($682 billion) than the next ten countries combined ($652 billion).
''That enormous defense budget accounts for roughly 20 percent of US government spending, which is almost as much as it spends on Social Security and about the same amount it spends on Medicare and Medicaid put together. And then there are the various wars America has fought since 2001, which will probably end up costing a staggering $4''6 trillion.
''The enormous amount of money spent on defense since September 11 has contributed significantly to America's huge national debt, which is now well over $16 trillion. That debt has been a major drag on the American economy and promises to be so for a long time to come.
''Some of the hundreds of billions of dollars wasted on preparing for and fighting unnecessary wars could have been spent instead on education, public health and transportation infrastructure, just to name a few areas on the home front where additional resources would have made the United States a more prosperous and livable country.''[3]
Other scholars such as Andrew J. Bacevich agrees. And even after the government spent billions upon billions of dollars in Iraq, the New York Times reported that ''Al Qaeda-Aligned Militants Threaten Key Iraqi Cities.''[4] And then this: ''Iraq fighters, al Qaeda allies, claim Falluja as new state.''[5]
This is where our tax dollars have led us. The Zionist machine wants us to spend billions upon billions of dollars on so-called war on terror and even on spying on the entire world with virtually no result. What we get in return is hatred of America, more conflict in the Middle East, and more terrorist cells.

Russian espionage in US increasingly sophisticated and brazen, say sources | intelNews.org
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 17:33
Russian espionage in the United States has become increasingly sophisticated and brazen, and American counterintelligence professionals are finding it difficult to contain it ''after years' worth of inattention'' according to sources. According to Politico, Washington ignored Russian intelligence operations in the 1990s, believing that Moscow's numerous domestic problems kept its attention away from America. But under Vladimir Putin, Russia rebuilt its espionage network in the US, to the point that now ''Moscow's espionage ground game [on American soil] is growing stronger and more brazen than ever''.
The news outlet cited ''half a dozen current and former US intelligence officials'', who said that America has been ''ignoring Russia for the last 15 years''. During that time, Washington focused much of its intelligence-related attention to the Middle East and Central Asia. But Russia used that opportunity to rebuild its espionage network on American soil. Currently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation '--the US agency that is in charge of counterintelligence work'-- is finding it difficult to keep an eye on Russian espionage operations, partly because of the size of Russian operations. One US intelligence official told Politico that the Russians ''have just got so many bodies'' and are able to evade FBI surveillance.
It is now commonplace, say sources, for Russian ''diplomats'' to be found wandering around the US without permission from American authorities. Foreign diplomats are required to notify the US Department of State in advance each time they intend to travel more than 50 miles from their consular base, and the FBI must consent before permission to do so is granted. But the Russians are now routinely breaking this requirement; what is more, ''half the time they're never confronted'' by the FBI, allegedly because Washington is does not wish to antagonize Moscow in light of the fragile state of affairs in Syria. One US intelligence official told Politico that the Russian ''diplomats'' appear to be secretly visiting locations across America ''where underground fiber-optic cables tend to run''. They appear to be mapping the US telecommunications infrastructure, ''perhaps preparing for an opportunity to disrupt it'', said the source.

Ailing Deutsche Bank Racks Up Another $41 Million In Fines Related To Money Laundering $DB
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 17:18
Deutsche Bank '' which announced they would need to raise 8 billion Euros in March, was hit with a $41 million fine on Tuesday for failing to employ adequate anti-money-laundering oversight.
Deutsche Bank's insufficient monitoring involved billions of dollars in ''potentially suspicious transactions'' that were processed between 2011 and 2015, the Fed said. The transactions involved affiliates in Europe that failed to provide ''accurate and complete information,'' the regulator said. ''Bloomberg
The $41 million penalty follows a $630 million judgment in January for their involvement in a $10 billion Russian money-laundering scheme involving the bank's Moscow, New York, and London branches.

Former DNC data director: Clinton's complaint is 'f--king bulls--t'
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 16:43
The former director of data science for the Democratic National Committee utterly rejected Hillary Clinton's complaint that the DNC gave her no help in running against Donald Trump.
"DNC data folks: today's accusations are fucking bullshit, and I hope you understand the good you did despite that nonsense," Andrew Therriault tweeted Wednesday.
"Private mode be damned, this is too important," he said in a second tweet. "I'm not willing to let my people be thrown under the bus without a fight."
The tweets appeared to be taken down, but were captured by a CBS political contributor:
Therriault was responding to Clinton's speech on Wednesday, when she said the DNC gave her "nothing" when it came to data once she won the Democratic nomination.
"I get the nomination, so I'm now the nominee of the Democratic Party," she said. "I inherit nothing from the Democratic Party. I mean, it was bankrupt. It was on the verge of insolvency. Its data was mediocre to poor, non-existent, wrong. I had to inject money into it."
It was just one of several comments Clinton made aimed at blaming others for her loss. Clinton blamed the press for covering her email scandal "like it was Pearl Harbor."
She blamed Trump and Russia for deep levels of coordination that she said cost her the White House.
Clinton also suggested Democrats may have to start lying in future elections in order to defeat Republicans.

Belg opgepakt voor aanslagen Parijs | NOS
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 16:40
The government is spying on journalists to find leakers | New York Post
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 16:01
There was a big ruckus four years ago when the Associated Press announced that telephone records for 20 of its reporters had been subpoenaed by the Justice Department.
The government was apparently looking for CIA leaks about an operation in Yemen.
Well, a Washington source of mine tells me it's happening again. The Justice Department has gotten a warrant from the US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court '-- also known as the FISA court '-- to conduct electronic surveillance on a group of journalists who've been the recipient of leaked information, the source said.
The journalists are not the target, according to my source '-- and I say, thank goodness for that. Instead, the Trump administration is looking for the leaker. Who could it be?
Some in the administration are focusing on a retired, high-ranking military officer who held important posts in the intelligence service, according to the source.
The possibly high-ranking leaker was getting some of his information from people inside the White House who were holdovers from the Obama administration, the source said.
Those White House leakers '-- said to be three people '-- have either already been fired or will soon be, the source claims.
And these cases, I'm told, have been turned over to the Justice Department for possible prosecution.
Botched anti-measles campaign kills 15 children in South Sudan | Reuters
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 15:51
JUBA At least 15 children died in South Sudan in early May after health workers vaccinating them against measles used the same syringe without sterilizing it, the health minister said on Friday.
About 300 children were vaccinated on May 2-5 in Nacholdokopele village in Eastern Equatoria state, another 32 of whom have recovered after falling ill with symptoms including fever, vomiting and diarrhea, Health Minister Riek Gai Kok said.
"The team that vaccinated the children in this tragic event were neither qualified nor trained for the immunization campaign," Kok told a news conference.
A report prepared by a committee of specialists found the children had died from severe sepsis toxicity as a result of the vaccine's contamination, caused by repeated use of an unsterilized syringe.
Oil-producing South Sudan, which became independent in 2011, has struggled to provide basic services such as healthcare since it descended into civil war in December 2013.

MIT officials: Trump misunderstood our climate research | TheHill
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 15:50
President Trump misunderstood a Massachusetts Institute of Technology study he cited during a speech on Thursday announcing the United States' withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, university officials told Reuters.
The study in question, "How much of a difference will the Paris Agreement make?," was published in April 2016 and states that, if countries upheld their commitments, the pact would slow the global temperature rise to between 0.6 degree and 1.1 degrees Celsius by 2100.
In his address on Thursday, however, Trump said the difference the Paris agreement would make is negligible, saying it would only slow global warming by a "tiny, tiny amount."
"Even if the Paris Agreement were implemented in full, with total compliance from all nations, it is estimated it would only produce a two-tenths of one degree Celsius reduction in global temperature by the year 2100," he said. The White House attributed the claim to the MIT study, according to Reuters.
But MIT officials rejected that assertion, saying that, without the agreement, the temperature could rise more dramatically.
"If we don't do anything, we might shoot over 5 degrees or more and that would be catastrophic," John Reilly, the co-director of the university's Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change, told Reuters.
One of the study's authors Erwan Monier advised against the U.S. leaving the climate deal.
"We certainly do not support the withdrawal of the U.S. from the Paris agreement," Monier told Reuters.
Russia, unmasking probes expand to Obama aide Samantha Power | Circa News - Learn. Think. Do.
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 04:16
The House Intelligence Committee issued seven subpoenas on Wednesday in its wide-ranging probe of Russian election influence and intelligence gathering, and for the first time demanded to know whether President Obama's former United Nations ambassador Samantha Power sought to unmask spy information on Americans.
The panel issued the demands for documents to Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen and one of his companies, as well as one subpoena each to former Trump National Security adviser Michael Flynn and his firm related to Russia contacts.
CNN Programs - Anchors/Reporters - Matthew Chance
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 01:44
Matthew ChanceMatthew Chance is CNN's senior international correspondent based in London. He has reported extensively on major stories for CNN's global news networks from the Middle East, Afghanistan, Russia and Chechnya, Europe and the Far East.
Chance was one of the journalists held by forces of Colonel Gaddafi at the Rixos al Nasr hotel in Tripoli, Libya, in August 2011. He reported by Twitter throughout the period of his capture and was live on CNN as the International Committee of the Red Cross finally evacuated the detainees.
Chance also led CNN's coverage of the 2008 Russia-Georgia conflict, reporting from the frontlines. With his team, Chance was the only television correspondent to cross from Georgian to Russian territory, filing reports from Tskinvali, the devastated capital of the South Ossetia war zone. When the conflict ended, Chance secured an exclusive interview with the Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin '' the network's first for eight years. Chance also sat down with Russia's president, Dmitry Medvedev, for a one-on-one interview.
In other assignments, Chance reported from Mumbai, India, where he covered the 2008 militant attacks on the city and the siege of the landmark Taj Majal Hotel.
In 2005, Chance reported from the scene of the London bombings in July and carried out investigative reporting on the terrorists responsible for the catastrophe. He also reported on the Tsunami tragedy from Phuket where he documented heartbreaking stories of tourists from 27 nations caught in the disaster in December 2004.
In Russia, Chance reported on the Beslan school siege in September 2004 when 344 civilians perished in the three-day standoff between Chechen rebels and Russian security forces. He also covered the Moscow theatre hostage crisis in October 2002, in which nearly 800 people were held captive by Chechen rebels. His reports documented how Russian special forces pumped lethal gas into the theatre auditorium to subdue the hostage takers before storming in. He has also travelled repeatedly to Chechnya, where a bitter war continues unabated between separatist rebels and Russian troops.
In the Middle East, Chance reported extensively from Iraq in the aftermath of the 2003 war. He has also spent months documenting the hardships and bloodshed felt by both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, from Palestinian suicide attacks against Israelis to the impact of that country's military action in the occupied territories. He was the first journalist to interview the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, after Israeli troops lifted a siege on his Ramallah compound in May 2002. He also covered the Israeli siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in May 2002. In 2005 he covered the disengagement of Israel from Gaza. And in 2007, he returned to the region to report from the frontlines in the war between Israel and the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah.
As nuclear tensions simmered between India and Pakistan, Chance flew to the central Asian country of Kazakhstan to interview the Pakistani president, General Pervais Musharraf. In the interview, General Musharraf clarified his policy on the use of nuclear weapons.
Chance joined CNN in October 2001 when he reported from Northern Afghanistan. As Kabul fell to the Northern Alliance forces, he was the first CNN correspondent, and one of the first Western reporters, to arrive in the city, entering the Afghan capital on foot. He then reported on the emotional outpouring as the people of Kabul reacted to the departure of the Taliban.
Between 1996 and 2001, Chance was a freelance correspondent based in Sri Lanka, Bangkok and London. Some of the events he covered on behalf of CNN include the violence in East Timor, the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and the refugee crisis in Kosovo. He has also reportedly extensively on the troubles in Chechnya, spending almost 18 months in Russia and Chechnya reporting for CNN. Previously he worked in London as a broadcast journalist for the BBC World Service.
Chance is British and attended the University of London where he earned a BA in Archaeology and Art from the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Hillary Clinton's Prescription Pill Problem
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 00:48
AP
BY: Brent Scher
May 9, 2016 11:00 am
Hillary Clinton has turned her focus toward the problem of widespread addiction to painkiller drugs, but she has failed to mention that she has taken money from the family that turned the invention of OxyContin into a $14 billion fortune.
Clinton has sought to villainize the painkiller industry in recent days, voicing support for a proposed tax that would be paid by drug manufacturers for any pain pill sold that uses active opioid ingredients'--the most popular of which is OxyContin, a slow-release pill that has been described as "the perfect recipe for addiction" and has been abused by more than 7 million Americans over the past two decades.
The drug was invented by Purdue Pharma, a company purchased by Dr. Mortimer Sackler, a Clinton Foundation donor, and his two doctor brothers, Arthur and Raymond, in 1952.
The already wealthy Sackler family purchased the company as a small drug manufacturer but it became a cash cow once OxyContin was approved by the government in 1995. The Sackler family was selling $1.6 billion worth of product annually through sales of the painkiller alone and now ranks as one of the richest in the world.
Mortimer Sackler died in 2010 but was not the only member of the Sackler family that gave money to the Clintons.
Jonathan Sackler, a son of Dr. Raymond Sackler who now sits on Purdue Pharma's board of directors, contributed $2,300 to Clinton's failed 2008 run for president. His listed employer on the donation was Purdue Pharma.
Jillian Sackler, the widow of one of Mortimer's brothers, has been a political donor for Clinton since her first run for U.S. Senate in 2000. After being a consistent donor to her Senate campaigns'--giving $6,800 over eight years'--she contributed an additional $4,000 to her 2008 run.
Clinton has seen support from Purdue Pharma this election cycle as well. Robin Abrams, vice president and associate general counsel for the pharmaceutical company, contributed $500 to Clinton's campaign in February. Dora Hughes, a Sidley Austin lobbyist currently working on behalf of Purdue Pharma, has contributed $1,500 to Clinton's campaign.
Clinton has previously stated that "the drug companies" are her enemies. The Clinton campaign did not return a request for comment.
Purdue Pharma is currently in the midst of a public relations nightmare after the Los Angeles Timesalleged last week that it has been knowingly misleading the public about OxyContin's ability to relieve pain for 12 hours as its advertised to do.
"The drug wears off hours early in many people, a Los Angeles Times investigation found," the Los Angeles Times wrote. "OxyContin is a chemical cousin of heroin, and when it doesn't last, patients can experience excruciating symptoms of withdrawal, including an intense craving for the drug."
"The problem offers new insight into why so many people have become addicted to OxyContin, one of the most abused pharmaceuticals in U.S. history," according to the report.
Purdue Pharma has focused its marketing strategy for OxyContin on the ability for it to last 12 hours, pushing doctors to prescribe the drug on 12-hour dosing schedules only, according to the investigation.
When patients complained that OxyContin was wearing off quicker, doctors were instructed by Purdue Pharma to prescribe stronger doses rather than advise patients to take the drug at shorter intervals. These more potent doses, of course, increase the likelihood of overdose and death.
"Anything shorter needs to be nipped in the bud. NOW!!" wrote one Purdue Pharma sales manager in a memo to staff. Experts on the issue told the Los Angeles Times that taking a drug like OxyContin at 12-hour intervals is "the perfect recipe for addiction."
Internal documents reviewed by the Los Angeles Times indicate that Purdue Pharma was more concerned about revenue than making sure its drug was being used responsibly. A memo written in 1996 advising sales representatives to get doctors to prescribe higher doses of OxyContin was headlined, "$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's Bonus Time in the Neighborhood!"
The deceptive marketing campaign from Purdue Pharma almost came to light in 2004 when it was sued by West Virginia for the excessive payments it was making to the company through state programs. Revealed in the case was the fact that the drug's central claim that it could relieve pain for 12 hours was a hoax.
The judge found that patients were supplementing their OxyContin with other painkillers to bridge the gap between doses and that Purdue could have stopped this by being honest about its drug.
"Most of the patients in the clinical trials required additional medication, so called 'rescue medications,' that accompanied their 12-hour OxyContin dose," the judge wrote in his 2004 ruling. "Plaintiff's evidence shows Purdue could have tested the safety and efficacy of OxyContin at eight hours, and could have amended their label, but did not."
Purdue was represented in the case by Eric Holder, who would years later serve alongside Hillary Clinton in the Obama administration. Holder agreed that Purdue would give $10 million to West Virginia to be spent on programs to alleviate drug abuse.
In return, all the evidence uncovering Purdue's dangerous marketing of OxyContin remained sealed and despite the judge's opinion that Purdue should amend its labeling of the drug, nothing was changed.
In 2014, 80 percent of the 5.4 million individuals prescribed OxyContin were taking the drug on a 12-hour schedule. More than half of the drug users were being prescribed doses far beyond what is deemed safe by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Louise Bernard named museum director for future Obama Presidential Center - Chicago Tribune
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 00:04
A luminary among the nation's museums devoted to African-American history was named the museum director at the future Obama Presidential Center, the foundation planning the center announced Wednesday.
Louise Bernard, outgoing director of exhibitions at the New York Public Library, will be charged with presenting the narrative of the Obama presidency and sustaining the legacy of the first African-American president.
Bernard previously was a member of the design team that helped develop the highly acclaimed National Museum of African American History and Culture, a Smithsonian Institution facility that opened to great fanfare in the National Mall in September.
She also serves as a key adviser for the International Museum of African American History in Charleston, S.C., which is scheduled to break ground at the end of this year.
"She's really a superstar," said Michael Boulware Moore, president and chief executive officer of the International African American Museum. "I'm sure President Obama and the first lady will have all kinds of thoughts about what they think should be in the museum. She will digest that and cull through it and there will be some back-and-forth."
"Her magic is coming up with dynamic ways of engaging people in interesting kinds of ways."
Scheduled to open in 2021, the Obama Presidential Center will rise in Jackson Park on the South Side. In a break from tradition, former President Barack Obama's official papers and artifacts will not be housed there but will be digitized and stored elsewhere by the National Archives and Records Administration and made available through loans.
The cost of the center is expected to be at least $500 million.
This month, Obama and his wife while in Chicago offered the first look at the design of the center, a campus of three buildings highlighted by an eye-catching museum, whose height and splaying walls would make a bold architectural statement.
Calling it a "transformational project for this community," the former president said he and his wife envisioned a vibrant setting that would be akin to Millennium Park, a destination for those drawn to the presidential center and the park itself.
"It's not just a building. It's not just a park. Hopefully it's a hub where all of us can see a brighter future for the South Side," the former president said.
Moore said Bernard, who has a Ph.D. in African American Studies and American Studies from Yale University, brings a firm grasp of the international African-American journey and an ability to integrate exhibits, architecture and landscape and the complexities of race to make a powerful impression that fulfills the Obamas' lofty goals. Under her direction, it likely will be impossible for visitors to tour the museum without realizing the historic significance of the first African-American in the White House, Moore said.
"She will be able to parse, distill a lot of the broad social nuances of his eight years and will be able to come up with some key deliverables in the sense of the museum experience that will be very valuable," Moore said.
Those with knowledge of the process said one of the first items on Bernard's agenda will be a series of listening sessions with a broad range of people and groups, including staff at the DuSable Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry, as well as community organizations, artists, and storytellers on the South Side.
Though Bernard is not from Chicago '-- she's originally from the United Kingdom '-- Moore said she excels at understanding the importance of place and incorporating that into the mission of a museum.
In Charleston, the museum will be situated on Gadsden's Wharf, where more than 100,000 enslaved Africans, including a paternal ancestor of Michelle Obama, stepped foot on American soil for the first time.
"(Bernard) quickly understood the power of the site and the history of colonial Charleston and the Low Country," Moore said. "She will easily understand the history of the South Side of Chicago and also infuse that into the museum in a way that grounds the overall experience."
The Obama Foundation's chief executive, David Simas, expressed confidence in Bernard's ability to make the Obama center much more than a traditional presidential museum.
"One of the key aspects of the Obama Presidential Center is a museum that does not just tell the story of the Obama Administration, but inspires individuals and communities to take on our biggest challenges," Simas said in a statement.
Bernard, also in a statement, said she hoped to carry out her new role in a way that inspires South Side neighbors, as well as Americans and people around the world.
"I look forward in bringing President and Mrs. Obama's remarkable story to the broadest possible audience," she said, "and to highlighting the crucial role of civic engagement in a way that is meaningful to local South Side residents."
Bernard's appointment follows a series of hires earlier this month including Lynn Taliento, a former McKinsey & Co. consultant, as chief program officer and Glenn Brown, a former executive at YouTube, Google and Twitter, as chief digital officer.

Google confirms ad blocker coming to Chrome in 2018
Thu, 01 Jun 2017 23:19
Google has confirmed it's getting into the ad-blocking game, as has been previously reported '-- but in a very limited way.
The company told CNBC that it will allow publishers to participate in a new program called Funding Choices. Under the program, when a user with a third-party ad blocker enabled visits a participating site using Chrome, they will see a prompt that asks them to either turn off their ad blocker, or "pay for a pass that removes all ads on that site through the new Google Contributor." If they choose to pay the fee, Google will take a 10 percent cut. If they select neither choice, they won't be able to view the website.
The move will help publishers who fear losing ad revenue from users with ad blockers turned on. Instead of having to manage these kinds of prompts themselves, publishers can essentially outsource this task to Google.
To see the prompts, users must sign up to participate in the Google Contributor program, and must be signed in to Chrome. If they're not signed up and have an ad-blocker turned on, they won't be able to view the site. If they're not using an ad blocker at all, they'll be able to view the site as usual, complete with ads.
Business Insider is among the participating sites, Google confirmed.
However, publishers must first be compliant with certain Google ad standards, which could hurt some smaller publishers who have limited leverage over the types of ads they can accept.
Publishers will be able to prepare their sites for Google's standards using an Ad Experience Report, which will provide "screenshots and videos of annoying ad experiences we've identified to make it easy to find and fix the issues."
Pop-ups, takeover ads and ads with auto-playing audio are all considered bad ads, according to the Coalition for Better Ads, of which Google is a part.
Google confirmed a new version of Chrome will launch in 2018 that will prevent websites from showing ads "including those owned or served by Google" on sites that don't meet its standards.
JFKfactsWhat happened to 'JFK Declassified?' - JFKfacts
Thu, 01 Jun 2017 22:16
After two episodes the History Channel documentary series JFK Declassified: Tracking Oswald, seems to have ceased. The third installment of the six-part series, scheduled for release on Tuesday, has not appeared on the History Channel web site. I've asked History Channel for comment. If you have relevant information, drop me a note.
The first JFK conspiracy theory, published with CIA support, on Nov. 24, 1963.
Dan Hardway and I debated the show's host, ex-CIA man Robert Baer, on Miami talk radio last week. I said that the program's revelations were not new and that its reporting on the role of intelligence services in the JFK story lacked balance. Dan asked Baer if he knew the story of George Joannides and Baer indicated he did not.
The show was noteworthy for breaking with the official story of the assassination and advancing the ''Castro Done it'' theory. This interpretation of November 22 is not new. It was articulated most recently by Brian Latell, another former CIA employee. As I told Baer, the CIA has not provided the documentation to verify the testimony of the Cuban defector on whom Latell and Baer rely. So their claims cannot be corroborated.
The ''Castro Done It'' theory was first promulgated on November 24, 1963, before JFK had even been buried. It was the first JFK conspiracy theory to reach public print''and it was paid for by the CIA. So the genealogy of Baer's theory is long which the History Channel may not have known.
I don't know why History Channel has stopped rolling out this flawed account of the JFK story but I am sure the answer will be revealing.
Stay tuned.

WHO IN THE WORLD WAS ''ALBERT PIKE'' ? WHO WAS HELENA BLAVATSKY? '' Love Truth
Thu, 01 Jun 2017 21:05
By: Bradley Loves
Albert Pike was a 33rd Degree Freemason! He was very high up in what most people would call the ''Illuminati Structure'''..., and he wrote a book called:
MORALS AND DOGMA OF THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY.
Here is a short bio:
He was an advocate of SlaveryWanted Southern SuccessionFought in the Civil War as a ConfederatePike first joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1840, and he had then joined a Masonic Lodge, where he became extremely active in the affairs of the organization, being elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite's Southern Jurisdiction in 1859.[9] He remained Sovereign Grand Commander for the remainder of his life (a total of thirty-two years), devoting a large amount of his time to developing the rituals of the order.[17] Notably, he published a book called Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in 1871, of which there were several subsequent editions.
Albert Pike believed deeply in SECRECY'..., as did another very prominent FREEMASON who lived at the same time Pike did'..., only on the other side of the world in Russia! This lady went by the name of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky'..., and is a woman who has been ''credited'' with starting the NEW AGE MOVEMENT! She wrote a book entitled: THE SECRET DOCTRINE.
Both Pike and Blavatsky (being high level Freemasons) wrote extensively in their books about LUCIFER or SATAN'..., being the ''GOD'' of this world.
Both Pike and Blavatsky seemed to share a ''grand vision'' of bringing LUCIFER out into the common experience of the every man as the GOD OF THIS PLANET!
Like almost ALL Illuminati members who went before him, Albert Pike believed deeply in the total ''IGNORANCE'' of the common man'..., saying that they DESERVED to be lied to!
Here is Helena Blavatsky pictured next to her honorary Masonic 32nd Degree
The ''connection'' between Albert Pike and Helena Blavatsky goes far deeper than one might think considering that Pike was born in the United States'..., and Blavatsky was born in Russia!
Blavatksy started an organization called: The Theosophical Society, which became quite well known in Europe. However'..., the links between the Theosophical Society and Pike become apparent when their logo's are compared.
You can see that Blavatky's new Logo still has a Swastika inside of it right at the top. Below is the original logo of the Theosophical Society, which actually had the Swastika inside of it right at the top as well. Both logo's still have the ''Serpent'' swallowing it's tail however.
I've written about this many times before'..., saying that Helena Blavatsky was a Freemason'..., and that she (and her fellow Freemasons) started the NEW AGE!
Naturally, I've been shouted down by countless ''New Ager's'''..., who never do ANY RESEARCH at all, and say that this is not the truth!
Instead, all they do is listen all day long to ''channeled entites'''..., who could not tell the ''truth'' if their discarnate lives depended on it!
In this next photo, you can clearly see that the Original Name for the Scottish Rite (Freemasonic Magazine) was in fact: THE NEW AGE MAGAZINE!
Beyond the solid connection between FREEMASONRY and THE NEW AGE, there is a second connection that most people are not aware of! That is the connection of Freemasonry to Satanism'..., and Freemasonry to Wicca!
This connection becomes apparent when we realize that Aleister Crowley (a known Satanist was also a high level Freemason!
Below is a picture of Aleister Crowley dressed in his Freemasonic regalia!
The writing under his photo says this:
BAPHOMET XI O.T.O.
SUPREME AND HOLY KING OF IRELAND, IONA, AND ALL THE BRITAINS THAT ARE IN THE SANCTUARY OF THE GNOSIS.
GRAND MASTER OF THE KNIGHTS OF THE HOLY GHOST
GRAND MASTER OF THE KNIGHTS OF THE TEMPLE CUSTOS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'.... ETC.
Here are more pictures of Crowley:
So then, WHAT exactly is the Wicca, that Crowley helped Gardner to create??
Most ''Wiccan's'' claim that their mystery religion is based in WHITE MAGIC'..., and has nothing to do with Satanism! However'..., why then was it started by a Freemason (Gerald B. Gardner) who had such intimate connections to Aleister Crowley, and was ALSO a member of the Satanic O.T.O. like Crowley was ??
Wicca is ''supposed'' to be the LIGHT SIDE of MAGIC'..., but just who is it they are really targeting with this stuff??
William Schnoebelen, (A ''former'' 33rd Degree Freemason) who has many Youtube Videos available to watch, says this about witches and sorcerers:
S
This is almost to a ''tee'' what Jay Parker has told us in his video interviews about his ''family'' which were in fact Generational Satanists'..., but also Witches and Warlocks!
I find it ''curious'' that Helena Blavatsky (supposed starter of the New Age) kept such interesting company as Satanists, Witches, Sorcerers, and other such beings'..., don't YOU???
However'..., many New Agers consider Blavatsky beyond ''reproach'' because of this single photo!
Above, she is supposedly ''pictured'' with what are called in the photo: ASCENDED MASTERS'..., who just happened to ''drop in'' into the physical realm (temporarily) so they could take this photograph with her.
The ''MASTERS'' supposedly pictured are:
''LORD'' KUTHUMI
''LORD'' MORYA
''LORD'' ST. GERMAINE
Have you ever seen a ''group'' dressed in such ''fine'' clothing in all your life?? They almost look like Kings or Princes in this photo. So if Madam Helena Blavatsky (A Freemason) regularly kept the company of Satanists, Witches, Warlocks, and Magicians'..., then WHO EXACTLY are the men she is pictured with above??
And, more importantly, what is it that people like BLAVATSKY and fellow Freemason PIKE, really believe in anyway??
Now let's compare the very first Logo of the CHURCH OF SATAN'..., with the logo's of Blavatsky and Pike Medal. Notice that all three have the Serpent swallowing it's tail!
So what have we ''established'' so far in our research?
Freemasonry is related to, and started the NEW AGE. Most high level Freemasons are Satanists! Most high level Freemasons are Witches and Warlocks!Freemasonry started WICCA (supposedly a form of ''White Magic''). The founders of Wicca were Satanists!Now'..., I have not even begun to get into the connections between the Satanists'..., Pedophilia (child rape)'..., child torture, Ritual Sacrifice, Blood Drinking, Vampirism, as was so evident in the Hampstead, UK case, where two young children and many others were being sexually abused right inside their ''school'' and the neighboring Church by a group of self proclaimed Satanists.
It came out (from the kids police testimony) that the group was actually ritually killing babies, and then cooking and eating them right at the school or the neighboring church!
Strangely the UK Government covered up the entire affair'..., and even the police assisted in the cover up!!
So what kind of ''RELIGION'' is Satanism exactly?? Well, this is taken from a book of BLACK MAGIC that was written by yet another 33rd Degree Freemason!
Do you notice that he calls upon the EMPEROR LUCIFER? Curious isn't it that a Freemason would call upon LUCIFER for direct help?? But remember this?
So my question to you is this'..., IF BLAVATSKY revers LUCIFER as much as other Freemasons do'..., then who are these men with her in this picture???
More will be coming!!

British Airways system outage 'caused by IT worker accidentally switching off power supply' | The Independent
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 22:23
A power outage at British Airways that disrupted tens of thousands of people's travel plans last weekend plunging hubs Heathrow and Gatwick into chaos, was reportedly caused by a staff blunder.
According to The Times, a power supply unit at the centre of the outage was in perfect working order and was deliberately shut down which triggered the disturbance. The paper reported that an investigation of the episode will therefore likely focus on human error.
According to The Times, the incident likely concerned a so-called uninterruptable power supply, or UPS, which is designed to deliver a smooth flow of power from the main with a fall-back to a battery-powered back-up and a diesel generator.
British Airways' parent company, International Airlines Group, this week explained that the supply of power to a key data centre was lost and an uncontrolled reboot of the system subsequently shut down the entire system.
An investigation has already revealed that the UPS was in full working order at the time, The Times reported. Citing a source, the paper said that it was rumoured a maintenance contractor had accidentally switched the supply off.
Bill Francis, head of IT at IAG, sent an email to staff, seen by the Press Association, which appeared to confirm that the outage was not caused by an IT failure or issues relating to software.
Last weekend, British Airways was forced to cancel around 800 flights from Gatwick and Heathrow as a result of the disruption.
Flight compensation website Flightright.com said that BA would likely have to pay approximately '‚¬61m (£53m) in compensation under EU rules, a figure that does not include the cost of reimbursing customers for hotel stays.
Several airlines have been hit by computer glitches over the last year, but analysts said that the duration and scale of BA's outage was unusual.
In August last year, Delta Air Lines cancelled and delayed thousands of flights after an outage hit its computer systems. Last month, Germany's Lufthansa and Air France suffered a global system outage which briefly prevented them from boarding passengers.

Unsafe delivery of measles vaccine kills 15 children in South Sudan - CNN.com
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 08:40
About 300 people had received inoculations against measles in the village of Nachodokopele during a recent four-day vaccination campaign. The village is in Namorunyang state, which borders Ethiopia and is part of South Sudan's Equatoria region.
Evidence gathered by the investigators indicates that vaccination team members, who were neither qualified nor properly trained, did not adhere to immunization safety standards approved by the WHO.
A single syringe was reused during the campaign instead of being discarded after a single use. The investigators say that reuse caused a syringe to become contaminated, and this contaminated the measles vaccine vials, which then infected the children.
Measles is a highly contagious, serious disease caused by a virus, yet a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available.
"Measles vaccine is supplied as a freeze-dried product. It's like a powder in a vial," said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist and professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University. This powder must be mixed with an approved diluent -- or diluting liquid -- that comes in another vial, and once combined, "you have an active vaccine that can be used."
The process requires "good aseptic technique," an approved health care method to prevent contamination, said Schaffner, who is also a spokesman for the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Aseptic technique would include not reusing a syringe.
The vaccination team also failed to follow temperature range recommendations to preserve the quality of the inoculations. Instead, they stored the vaccines in facilities that lacked proper temperature control for four days, the investigation found.
"The measles vaccine is a live virus vaccine," Schaffner said, which has been weakened, so it provides protection without making people sick.
"It's also heat-sensitive, so if you reconstitute it and then leave it around -- lying around in hot temperatures -- if you delay administering it, then the vaccine's effectiveness diminishes," he said.
If you somehow contaminate the vaccine, an improper temperature "gives an opportunity for the bad germs that have been introduced into the vaccine to multiply. It's like putting them into an incubator. So then the bad germs can actually grow up, and then when you do administer the vaccine, you're administering a much larger dose of the germ itself."
This is much more likely to lead to a serious infection, such as sepsis.
The South Sudan Ministry of Health has commissioned an administrative committee to review the report and offer suggestions for actions to improve vaccine delivery going forward, according to the WHO.
The Ministry of Health could not be reached for comment for this report.
Struggles in South Sudan
A country in east-central Africa, South Sudan borders Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic. In 2011, South Sudan gained its independence from Sudan, yet it has struggled with governance, according to the CIA World Factbook. Though a peace agreement was signed by warring parties in 2015, fighting broke out between the two principal parties that signed the agreement, and the country re-entered conflict in July.As of July, the total population of South Sudan was 12.5 million. In February, the UN announced a formal declaration of famine in parts of Unity state, where 4.9 million are in need of help.
Risk of measles and other preventable diseases is extremely high in South Sudan due to a backlog of unvaccinated children in areas of insecurity. The country has experienced significant measles outbreaks.
"In 2013, there were 145,700 measles deaths globally," the WHO said. "In refugee settings, the death rate from measles may be as high as 30%."
See the latest news and share your comments with CNN Health on Facebook and Twitter.
Worldwide, more than 2 billion children have been protected against measles by the vaccine.
"The vaccine is extraordinarily effective in preventing these infections. We'd like to give it to every child in the world," Schaffner said. In use since the late 1960s, the vaccine offers children lifelong protection against the measles virus.
"It's likely there were a whole series of errors in the administration of the vaccine (in Nachodokopele) for something this tragic to occur," he said. "It's, fortunately, enormously rare."

Aren't you glad to have that giant ocean between you and the nutjobs in Europe?
Three men mowed people down and exited their clowncar on the London Bridge and began knifing people to death -- screaming 'this is for Allah" -- and the British media is reporting this as a 'team' of lone wolves committing a rather crude, yet heinous, act of terror on the British people. The fellow in the beginning of this clip was rather impressed by the 'rapid' response by the British police, only taking 8 fucking minutes to arrive at the scene, where 6 people were murdered, 30 injured.
Multiculturalism is necessary, so that banks can issue credit cards and student loans. Anyone who views this attack as some sort of depraved Islamic orgy of human sacrifice isn't seeing the profit opportunity of having these pavement apes man factory machinery and bankrupt themselves under a mountain of 35% yielding plastic card bank debt.

VIDEO - London Bridge terrorist act: At least 7 killed in vehicle ramming, stabbing attacks '-- RT UK
Sun, 04 Jun 2017 11:50
A van hitting pedestrians on London Bridge, followed by three attackers stabbing people there and in the nearby Borough Market area, has been declared a terrorist incident by police. At least seven people died in the attack and 48 have been hospitalized.
LIVE UPDATES: Police manhunt following stabbing, vehicle attacks across London Live updates
The rise of the death toll from the initial six to seven people was announced during a news briefing by London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.
The statement said all three terror suspects believed to be involved in the attack have been shot dead by security forces. It, however, added that "more work" needed to be done on investigating the incident.
In an unprecedented move, the police have advised people to ''run, hide and tell'' on Twitter. Police cars, ambulances and helicopters were dispatched to the London Bridge.
London's ambulance service confirmed that at least 48 people injured in the attack had been taken to various hospitals. ''We took 48 patients to five hospitals across London and treated a number of others at the scene for minor injuries,'' according to the statement.
While no detailed information about the injured was immediately released, RT's Polly Boiko reported from outside University College Hospital that some ''victims of gun wounds'' were also treated by emergency services.
Conflicting accounts claimed that as many as three attackers jumped out of the van after it hit people and proceeded to stab people.
Multiple reports claim that at least two attackers were shot dead by police, with bodies seen by reporters. The BBC published a photograph showing a man lying on the ground with what appeared to be canisters strapped to his body. The photo was originally uploaded by Instagram user fried_chicken.
Eyewitnesses of the attacks have been sharing accounts of their ordeal. Mark Roberts, who was on London Bridge at the time the van ploughed into people, told Reuters he thought ''this was the Westminster attack all over again.''
The 52-year-old man said that he was in such a shock from the sight of the ''horrendous'' attack that he could not move: "I was thinking: Which way do I run to get away?" he said.
Police have confirmed they also ''responded to an incident'' in the nearby Borough Market after reports suggested there was a knife attack there.
Dramatic footage reportedly taken from inside the London Bridge Bar showed police ordering all the patrons to get on the ground and take cover.
Another witness, Gerard Vowls, told the Guardian that the attack happened while he was watching the Champions League Final in a pub in Borough. He said that, as he went outside, he saw three knifemen attacking a young woman in the street and attempted to stop the men by hurling glasses, chairs and bottles at them '' unfortunately, to no effect.
''They kept coming to try to stab me'... they were stabbing everyone. Evil, evil people,'' Vowls said.
London police said earlier that a third potential attack was taking place in the Vauxhall area of the city, roughly two miles (3.2km) from Borough Market, but it was later determined to be an unrelated stabbing incident.
The attackers were most likely radical Islamist terrorists, British Interior Minister Amber Rudd told ITV, adding that the authorities ''need to find out more about where this radicalization came from.''
UK should figure out ''why its counter-terrorism and counter-extremism strategies keep failing over and over again,'' social commentator Mo Ansar told RT.
''The scenes '' people being knife-attacked, trucks and vans running [over] people in the street '' are becoming too regular aspects in the streets of Britain. We are going to ask a serious question about how we stop this,'' Ansar said.
It is a ''vicious circle'' which Britain got trapped in due to its ''outdated anti-terror laws,'' says award-winning Beirut-based British journalist Martin Jay, who spoke to RT. He believes these are going to be ''overhauled in the next coming days.''
''We need to look at those laws once again to see if they are working,'' he said, adding that Britain needs to be ''radical in tackling radicalism.''
With little official information available, details of the violent scenes that followed the London Bridge ramming began to emerge from eyewitnesses to the attacks. A number of people at the scene reported that the attackers were armed with machete-size knives as they bore down on pedestrians.
Chris, a taxi driver, told LBC that the attackers were wielding ''long blades, 12 inches long'' and ''were stabbing people at random'' on London Bridge. He added that he attempted to ''ram'' one of the assailants with his car, but failed and then saw police officers heading toward the man.
Another eyewitness, identified only as Ben, told BBC Radio 5 that he and his wife saw ''a man in red with a large blade, at a guess 10 inches long, stabbing a man about three times'' just 15 meters from them. He noted that the victim was ''stabbed quite coldly'' until he ''slumped to the ground'' after attempting to confront the attacker.
A chef at a fish restaurant, located at Borough Market, similarly described the attackers he saw as ''two men with big knives.'' All the appeals to the attackers to stop the carnage and attempts by the restaurant staff to intervene by throwing chairs were in vain, he said.
In a show of support, Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a letter of condolence to UK Prime Minister Theresa May, according to a statement published on the president's website.
''This crime shocks [us] with its cruelty and cynicism,'' the Putin said, adding that the world should join efforts in the fight against global terrorism.

THREE terrorists drove a van into pedestrians at 50mph on London Bridge before attacking revellers with hunting knives.
Up to seven people were feared dead and 20 hurt in the 10pm attack '' amid a second 'attack' at nearby Borough Market which armed police are responding to.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed a third incident in the Vauxhall area after tweeting ''you must run, hide and tell.''
Shots have been fired in the London Bridge area as armed cops were believed to have shot dead two of the men, with a search underway for the third man.
Terrified people have fled while one officer is said to have been ''seriously injured'' as ''multiple'' casualties have been confirmed by British Transport Police.
Eye witnesses confirm that several bodies are ''strewn on the ground'' and people are receiving CPR after being randomly stabbed by ''two to three men armed 12 inch long knives.''
A bomb squad has reportedly arrived on the scene.

VIDEO - Bizarre fake police force included Kamala Harris aide, prosecutors say - LA Times
Sat, 03 Jun 2017 08:27
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Capt. Roosevelt Johnson thought it was odd when three people '-- two of them dressed in police uniforms he didn't recognize '-- strolled into the Santa Clarita station in February.
One man introduced himself as chief of the Masonic Fraternal Police Department and told Johnson this was a courtesy call to let him know the agency was setting up shop in the area.
They met for 45 minutes, Johnson said, but he was left confused and suspicious '-- so much so that he immediately ordered deputies to pull station surveillance video so they would have images of the visitors. He also assigned detectives to check them out.
''It was an odd meeting,'' the captain recalled. ''It just raised my suspicion level.''
This week, the three people were charged with impersonating police officers. They are David Henry, who told Johnson he was the police chief, Tonette Hayes and Brandon Kiel, an aide to state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris.
It turns out Henry, Hayes and Kiel had allegedly introduced themselves to police agencies across the state, though it is unclear why. A website claiming to represent their force cites connections to the Knights Templars that they say go back 3,000 years. The site also said that the department had jurisdiction in 33 states and Mexico.
''When asked what is the difference between the Masonic Fraternal Police Department and other police departments, the answer is simple for us. We were here first!'' the website said.
Los Angeles County prosecutors said the whole effort was a ruse, though for what purpose remains unclear. The investigation is continuing.
Johnson said Kiel did most of the talking during their meeting. Kiel said in addition to his police position, he worked for Harris. When Kiel departed, Johnson said, he left his card from the state Department of Justice.
David Beltran, a spokesman for the state Department of Justice, said Kiel was placed on paid leave April 30 '-- the date he was arrested. He is paid $67,416 annually as deputy director of community affairs.
Harris has received regular briefings on the case since it began.
''The attorney general has been concerned about these serious allegations from the point she was first briefed on this investigation,'' Beltran said. ''Our office has been cooperating with investigators from the beginning and will continue to do so.''
Friends of Kiel rushed to his defense.
''I was in total disbelief. I still don't believe it,'' Los Angeles businesswoman Ingrid Fields said. ''This is not the Brandon that I or dozens of people know.''
Fields said she has known Kiel since he was a 6-year-old neighbor and was friends with Fields' daughter.
''He is smart, articulate and very, very ethical, which is why I find this hard to believe. He is a hard worker,'' she said. ''He is a brilliant guy who had a great political career ahead of him. I can't imagine him doing anything to jeopardize that.''
While Fields said she didn't know about the police connection, those who knew Henry said the 46-year-old was very open about his role.
Employees at the Backwoods Inn restaurant in Santa Clarita remember a day about a month ago when Henry '-- a regular customer '-- walked in with a swagger.
He wore a dark blue police uniform with badges and insignia on both arms. He told the staff at the country western-themed eatery off the Sierra Highway he was a police chief and handed out his business card with pride.
It read MASONIC FRATERNAL POLICE DEPARTMENT in capital letters and identified Henry as Chief Henry 33
''He was very big on saying 'I'm the chief, I'm the chief,''' said one server who talked to him when he stopped by two or three times a week. She spoke on the condition that her name not be used.
''He carried himself like a cop, his uniform was spot on to a regular cop uniform, we all thought he was a legit cop,'' said a chef at the restaurant. Henry regularly brought in his children.
Employees said Henry told them the department had set up offices in a strip mall next to a storefront church in Santa Clarita.
Church members said they didn't talk to their neighbors but said they saw a few men come and go dressed in sharp suits. They drove a black Lincoln town car with no license plates.
''We thought they were a security company,'' said one church member.
Henry was charged with multiple misdemeanors and three counts of felony perjury. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 21.
Kiel is charged with six counts of impersonating an officer and unlawful use of a state ID. Hayes was charged with four counts of impersonating an officer. Both have been bailed out of jail and no court date has been set.
The three were members of a religious philanthropy group that does work in South Los Angeles. Their work put them in contact with various politicians and community leaders. A spokesman for Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) confirmed that the group gave her an award in 2012. A photo shows Waters with Kiel and Henry.
The exact structure of the purported police department was unclear. But on the website, Henry is referred to as ''Absolute Supreme Sovereign Grandmaster.''
Times staff writers Michael Finnegan and Patrick McGreevy contributed to this report.

VIDEO - Russia's Economy Minister: "We Can Live Forever At $40 Oil"
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 20:22
Authored by Tsvetana Paraskova via OilPrice.com,
The OPEC/non-OPEC deal is working, and the current underlying key assumption of Russia's economic policies'--oil prices at US$40'--can allow it to live forever at that price or below, Russia's Economy Minister Maxim Oreshkin told Bloomberg in an interview on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.
OPEC and Russia are already achieving what they intended to achieve with the deal'--a decline in crude oil inventory levels around the globe, the minister said.
Arguing that OPEC ''has not failed at all'' in its attempt to drive oil prices up, Oreshkin said that the price of oil is now much higher than it was this time last year, before the cartel and 11 non-OPEC producers led by Russia struck the initial output cut deal.
"We are targeting tighter short-term end of the curve,'' the minister said, noting that hedge funds are currently taking risks with medium-term prices a year or two ahead.
From a Russian economy perspective, the key assumption on which all Russian monetary and fiscal policies are based is oil at US$40, Oreshkin said. Russia is not as dependent on the price of oil as it was five or ten years ago, the minister noted, and said:
''We are actually ready to live forever at oil prices $40 or below.''
On Wednesday, Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said'--after meeting with his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak'--that OPEC and non-OPEC producers are committed to do ''whatever it takes'' to draw the global crude oil inventories down to their five-year average.
Last week, just a day after the output cut deal was extended as-is until March 2018, Novak said in an interview with CNBC that deeper cuts to OPEC's oil production were not out of the question, but their implementation would depend on how things unfold with the current agreement.

Camerota then suggests that since former FBI head Robert Muller just took over the investigation, that the clock was somehow reset and that they're just starting out. Nevermind the entire 'unmasking' operation conducted by the Obama administration which was both illegal and bore no fruit.
Sununu : Can I ask a question? If muller comes out and says that my version is correct, and yours isn't '' how much crow are you going to eat?
Camerota : Governor '' I don't have a version of events.
Sununu : Of course you do! The whole half hour I listened to you is a version.
Sununu ends strong '' telling the absolute truth:
Camerota : Governor, we appreciate your perspective that there's nothing to see here, and that the investigation is '' I dunno, silly.
Sununu : Politically motivated, by folks trying to rationalize a horribly run Democratic presidential campaign.

According to official figures, so far this year femicide has been committed on average once every 25 hours in Argentina.
On social networks, the hashtag 'FemicidioEsGenocidio' quickly went viral, showing hundreds of photos and videos of the protest.
'We represent them all'... and we will always exist,' tweeted protester 'Claudia Acuna'.
She added later, describing emotional scenes at the protest: 'Older ladies crying because in their time they could not speak aloud of it, men shocked by the cruelty of these times. I'll take that.'
